Still having problems with Orange broadband....

Anyway my line is capable of doing speeds of up to 6MB/s, Orange have promised me speeds of up to 8 MB/S. Getting 250KB/S at best (Generally around 50KB/S) is not good at all. 250KB/S is one /24th the speed I have been told I can get.

I have only got one PC connected via Ethernet, done a virus scan with two different virus scanners (AVG and McAfee), Firewalls are off etc. I've tested it at every time of day yet I cannot get faster than 250KB/S

WHY!

I think you're confusing bits with bytes. A bit is represented by a b while bytes are represented with a B.

There are 8 bits in a byte. Orange provide you with an up to 8 megabits per second connection, which is equal to 1 megabyte per second.

However, your maximum line speed is 6Mbits (which is equivalent to 750KB/s).
So you are only getting 1/3 of what you are meant to (250KB/s = 2Mb/s).

Double check your maximum download speed - was that measured by your browser or by Speedtest.net?
