Hi Dib, don't know if this is same or similar problem.. I too have a problem with connecting to certain websites since late last week, Saturday 12th to be more precise.. The problem appears to be with certain "SECURE" Bank websites.. Whenever I tried to connect through Orange, who are my ISP, the page came back as 'page not found or DNS'.. At first I thought that the websites were being modified and so not available temporarily, but when they still weren't available on Monday, I was disgruntled, particularly as it affected my daily internet banking.. Contacted the relevant helpdesks and ascertained that the problems were not with the website providers, so contacted Orange customer support.. They were helpful but not able to offer a solution.. Even though we went through re-installing the live-box and reverifying and loading all the regsvr32.nnnnnn.dll's etc..
The problem as far as I can see is with the DSN WANADOO-EF30 and or the IP address.. A technical colleague did some research and suggested editing the HOST file in WIN/SYSTEM32 by adding ip addresses.. Alternatively you might just look at NETWORK CONNECTIONS and look at the following http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/to...2000/2200/
and

That's all for now..
Glyn..
I think the excelent post by MARTYW answers a lot of questions pertaining to a large increase in complaints re accesing websites recently via Orange, especially ' secure ' finiancial sites, and the possibility that this could also be the source the many email and other web based access problems.
Strange isn't it that Orange had no idea of what was causing the problem, even denying the problem was with THEIR OWN SYSTEM, yet outsiders, Martyw's IT colleague and Sages tech support, were able to diagnose what the problem was and even provide a temp. workaround.
It speaks volumes about the technical competence of Orange when they can't interrogate, diagnose and fix their own system.
Orrrrrrrrrr ! they know about it, don't care about it, and hope that by ignoring it it will go away. Sound familiar ?
As far as I'm aware it is known and being worked on. A part of the problem is that this sort of problem goes beyond what the vast majority of agents know how to diagnose. You'd probably confuse a lot of them with the details.
The problem appears to be upsetting many customers who can't check balances, move funds and pay bills online etc.
I wonder who will pick up the bill for any poor soul who goes O/D , or worse due to this?
Seeing as it's Friday (usual day for exchange of contracts )I hope there are no solicitors / estate agents using Orange to try to transfer funds to complete sales.
I'd expect any proper company to be using a business grade broadband supplier. They usually have insurance for losses due to downtime etc which almost all residential broadband doesn't have.
If you're going to be paying bills or stuff online you've gotta always have some sort of backup like your banks phone number. What with viruses, hardware failures and connection problems I'd never trust an online only bank or system.
Orange have admitted there is a problem with some secure websites(if you get throught to the right person) until it is fixed they suggest you use dialup 0844 058 7000) to connect to these sites. Not sure if they will reimburse the connection charges or the 20 plus 0870 calls I had to make to get this far!
It's a shame because up to this point I have had excellent customer service from Wanadoo.
It's not just secure websites either, I have not changed any settings and yet certain websites no longer load and the same sites wont load on any computer I connect to my router so I cant be my pc that's the problem.
Problems loading other webpages exept google could be caused by server outages mainly on LLU. the best way to find out instead of ringing tech support is to ring the same number for tech but choose the option for servise status and find out wether your area has been affected or not. saves you the time and money

Hi,
I too have been having very strange problems accessing websites in that they time out - just tried to get some drivers from ATi this morning and while I can get to the main site I can't get to the drivers page. I used to work for Planet online many moons ago now who setup Freeserve and then ran Wanadoo and during that time I've had no cause for complaint - (they were always 100% proffesional in those days) but since Orange took over absolutely terrible. As I have an Orange mobile I thought what the heck if I can now have my broadband for free why not - it took almost two months for them to sort it out.
Given this is almost certainly a DNS problem and I'd guess they have forgotton to add DNS server IP's to some of their new kit in the exchanges it shouldn't take long to fix so I really can't get my head round why nothing is happening. I've been with Freeserve from day one but currently I'm seriously looking at ending both my Orange mobile phone contract and broadband. ORANGE come on wake up take some resposibility and sort it out!

That is identical to me, I used to download ATI drivers from the website but now only the main page loads and when I click the link for the latest driver the page times out
Thanks - changing the DNS certainly speeds things up but I still have the issue with the ATi web site in particular. Given there has been such a radical inprovement in speed there must be some sort of issue there.
Thanks
