Orange have capped my internet connection without telling me (I got the standard, please reduce your usage letter, but a week later, it was capped at peak times.)
I'm not paying for an up to 8mb connection if I am not getting anywhere near those speeds.
I am looking to go with 02 but wonder if there is going to be any problem as I don't have a BT line - I got the phone line with Orange when I got their internet. I have read on a website that I may have to cancel my Orange account, pay BT a substantial amount to reconnect the BT line, then sign up with my new provider, leaving me without internet for about a month and a big hole in my pocket.
Does anyone know if this is going to be the case or not? I was hoping that all I would need is a MAC code and it would all be done...but now I am not so sure.
You need a BT telephone line but this can be supplied by a number of re-sellers, eg Post Office, Talk Talk, Sky etc. the line rental does not need to be paid to BT by you.
I don't know if it's a contractual requirement that Orange must supply broadband with their telephony product, you'll need to ask Orange or check the contract T&Cs.
