I just spent 6 hours installing a Livebox Mini and had all sorts of troubles connecting a PC (wired) and a MAC (also wired, but via a Time Capsule backup HD, with a wireless connection to the MAC). It's murder, but as I finally sorted it out I thought I would try to pass on what may be useful information to anyone else with these problems.
The main issue is adding a second computer, be it MAC or PC. The Livebox Mini has two ethernet sockets. Livebox official support is very patchy, especially for Macs, and the installation CD is not much use either, it's really just a very limited set of help files. The instructions only tell you how to set up one computer, plugging it into socket 1, the red socket. You would assume that plugging an ethernet cable into socket two would set up the second computer, but it doesn't. They don't tell you, but that second ethernet socket is set up for digital tv and to change that setting to disable it for digital tv, you need to go into the control panel (with a live internet connection, go to 192.168.1.1 ), log in as admin (password is set to 'admin') and choose 'settings' then choose 'services' and go to 'digital tv' and disable it. Save those changes and you can then use the second ethernet socket for your other PC or MAC.
The next thing you may want to do, especially if you are a MAC user connecting via a Time Capsule, is to disable the Wifi on the Livebox. You do that because Time Capsules are all you want to use for your wireless connection for backups and internet, so you don't need a second wifi signal coming from the Livebox. You'll find that under Livebox settings easily enough. Uncheck the 'enable wifi' box.
In conclusion, I realised it's not really a MAC issue, it would be just as hard for a PC and though Time Capsule can be picky, I've yet to find any of these bits of kit to be easy or simple. Orange are slack on the support side, but so is everyone else. I just got lucky the second time I called in that the support agent knew what to do. There are plenty out there who don't know you can disable Wifi, or who will tell you to connect directly to Livebox wirelessly, which is much less useful to a MAC user.
I trawled all the other comments on the web about this problem and there are some settings that are critical for MAC users (hang on, they're probably ALL critical...), such as using bridging. But if I'd been able to add a second pc to Livebox from the get-go, I think the Time Capsule support would have walked me to the right place.
