1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 7648 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 365 kbps
2. Assured Rate Test: -provides background information.
Assured Rate IP profile on your line is - 600 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 540 kbps
Every day between 6 and 12 the speed just drops off completely.
Does this mean I'm getting my speed capped?
So I phoned up and got the classic reply that they'd be running a line test.
Of course it's after 12 and the speed is much, much higher.
Had a great time on the phone too.
The first guy disconnected me after I described the basic problem politely.
The second didn't reply to me.
Third kept talking over me, reading out the same line over and over again, blaming it on congestion.
Thanks, Orange. :/
There's definitely something happening.
If it's throttling, this line test isn't going to do much good, is it?
The IP Profile is 500kbps but you're synced at 7648kbps. The Profile should increase after about 3 days IF there's no other noise occurrence.
Check the SNRM in your router. If you have an NTE5 main linebox plug the router into the test socket behind the lower half frontplate and compare the router stats. If it's OK in the test socket then you may have a cabling problem within your property.

This has been going on for a few months. :/
After 12 last night the profile was 2600. Is it not a bit weird that it goes up during off peak hours to 2600kb/s then during peak hours it's suddenly 500 again?

That's from today.
I'll try what you suggest when I get the chance, thanks.
It is probably too much congestion at peak times on the Orange equipment at the phone exchange, if off-peak you can get normal speed.
Orange will tell you its a line problem, but then, if its a line problem, how come off-peak you get the speed?
They are probably telling you the same line they fed out to me for months, telling me there is no point switching provider as I would have the same problem wherever I went, in the end, I switched ISP provider and now a great internet connection with Sky, constant, high speed and smooth, even at peak times. Orange are just full of lies and provide the worst customer service I have ever encountered. They just don't care, they play a numbers game to get as many as they can to sign up, even if they can't provide the bandwidth that they should.
Get yourself another ISP provider is your best bet, or get ready for the long-haul of settling with poor internet speed at peak times.

Had similar responses from Orange on an upto 8meg ,told me my line would max out at 2meg, they LIED!!! Three TIMES, i suggest you consider that fact whenever you have to speak to them
