I've been with Orange for a few years now and at the beginning of this year I moved flats. Everything was fine and I took the internet with me, changed over (8meg) and was told I cold get around 5.5mgs speed. I didn't have a problem with this and for the first month everything was fine. Then suddenly the speed dropped. Completely to about 0.5mgs. After trying all the advice on the Orange website I decided to ring Orange. After a week or so of doing speed test and so on it was apparent that there was an issue!
So after a week or so of on going discussions and test I was told that a BT engineer would come out to check my line. I booked the afternoon off work and made sure I was in for the appointment. It got to around 3.30 in the afternoon and still nobody had been so I contacted Orange, and they did indeed confirm that an engineer was booked. Got to 5pm and still nobody had been, I contacted Orange again and was told they would follow it up and be back in touch that day! Surprise nobody contacted me! Anyway after a lot of chasing the next day I was told that BT thought they could fix the problem internally and had canceled the engineer! This was extremely infuriating as I'd booked time oof work to be in and nobody had even had the consideration to tell me. Orange blamed BT and claimed it was their fault for not informing Orange, but I think they should have contacted BT to confirm as I had contacted Orange to do so.
So two weeks later after BT had performed their internal repairs I was still getting no speed increase. This has continued. My last contact was with Orange and they are now informing me that BT have informed them that there are too many people using my line preventing the actual bandwidth from being achieved! Orange can't do anything about this as its a BT fault and I should contact them again in a few weeks to see if there has been any new information!
This is a joke, I've now been with a poor connection for two months chasing Orange repeatedly!!!! And now they are washing their hands of it blaming BT.
Does anybody know if there is anything further I can do to increase my speed. When I do a test its telling me I'm capable of getting around 7mgs but only getting a tenth of that.
