On Tuesday, I discovered that my old Freeserve account, which I left as a PAYG and accessed through my Orange broadband account, had reached its suspend-by-date. I went through the usual retrieve dormant account rigmarole but discoevered that all I get when I try to use Webmail is "We apologise but this account is currently unavailable." despite numerous prods at the retrieve dormant account screen.
I have e-mailed Orange help, the reply asked me for the following:-
Quote:
1) How do you access your emails? Is it through Outlook or Outlook
Express or from Orange website?
2) Do you get any error number or error message while checking emails?
3) Any changes made to your account or computer?
4) Have you installed any anti-virus or firewall software?
As soon as we hear back from you we can sort your problem out.
Also confirm if you are able to check your mails through the Orange
website :
Dogh! I decided that for a quiet life I would boot Windows up to give the man his answers in droid speak (Windoze) and found that Outhouse Distress
downloaded my 'lost' emails. BUT THE WEBMAIL STILL FAILS!!!

Despite a reply from Jonathan by personal e-mail, I am still getting the "We apologise but this account is currently unavailable" when I attempt to access my old freeserve account by webmail. As previously reported, pop3 IS working on that account but I have almost totally removed just about anything critical from the freeserve account but I wouldn't like to lose ir, primarily for sentimental reasons.
Given reported e-mail problems at Orange, I am gradually moving e-mail contacts from my orangehome broadband account to the e-mail server at my web/domain hosting which will make it much easier to bail out of Orange if another pending issue (unrelated to e-mail) is not resolved soon. I'll give them the usual 5 working days before I post on that one. Ha Ha!
I have just discovered that my old 'freeserve' account has decided to work on webmail again.
Previously, refreshing the old account gave me access to pop3, but gave the error message when I tried to use webmail.
I guess someone (Jonathan or Darren?) has given the appropriate server a well deserved kick
I would have liked to use this account on broadband again, had the sign-up droid in the offshore call-centre allowed me to do so, but he insisted on giving me an 'orangehome' account. The things one did for a free laptop. However the 2nd line is keeping me with Orange, despite the **** customer service.
