Firstly i'd like to say when it comes to networking im clueless. and this is not the first time ive had problems with Orange. For the last 2 days my internet speed has dropped dramatically. 2 days ago i was using a netgear router which i have now swapped for a more updated belkin router. This is when the problems with my internet speed started. Webpages take exleast 3-5mins to load up, videos on youtube for example take ages to stream, and downloads which should take mins infact now take hours.
having contacted Orange over the phone countless off times and done everythink they have mentioned, no luck. after ringing agian i was told my line was going to be checked and i would recieve a phone call between 6pm and 9pm. ive been waiting 3 hours and recieved no phone call. so if anyone could help here i'd be greatful
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 352 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 384 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 117 kbps
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line rate up to 1Mbps. However due to the length of your line the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 1.5Mbps or greater.
My wishes at the moment are to cancel my internet with Orange due to this company being so painful. But seeing as im on this contract i cant cancel my account till the 12th of july, unless i want to pay £48 twice. So any help and i would be greatful

This indicates that your line has suffered a massive "occurrence". Either a noise spike or a disconnection for some other reason. It can take up to 10 days for your normal IP Profile to return PROVIDED no other "occurrence" happens, if it does then you go back to the beginning.
You could try plugging the router into the test socket if you have one but at this stage it's probably better to leave the router switched on 24/7 and wait for BT's DLM system to respond.

I have been an Orange ( formerly Wannadoo ) customer for several years but to-day have asked for MAC number to move to a better provider.
My download speed has dropped to well BELOW 1 MEG!
After contacting Orange and checking my wiring, unplugging Sky, contacting BT etc etc etc - still no improvements.
Have been promised TWICE by Orange support I would receive " call backs " from " tech guys " based in their UK office.....but surprise, surprise...no calls.
There is only so many promises u can take that don't materiealise and only so many checks you can make for yourself before giving in!
Despite ANOTHER promise tonight that " we WILL ring you back in 4 days " I have told them thanks - but no thanks. Asked for MAC number and been told will receive it inabout 5 days. I have also emailed Orange about the cancellation ( though doubt anyone will respond ).
Going to move to o2 (now Sky).........Just under £8 a month up to 4 meg ( max I can get from my exchange )......and just hope they are better than a fruit!
Orange are NOT a-peeling!!

albeck, I moved from Orange to PlusNet about 10 months ago after a series of problems - one of the reasons was Orange telling me I definitely couldn't go faster than 2Mb!!!(and frequently got a lot less!)
Moved to PlusNet and getting 6.5Mb in the quieter times of day but even in busy early evening periods I get over 5Mb.
If you change ISPs do it via the MAC route and watch your bank account like a hawk after the change-Orange accounts seem to live on a different planet from the rest of the Company.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the info Dave - pleased you are satisfied with PlusNet.
A couple of weeks ago I installed PlusNet for a friend. The wifi setup was a breeze, and they haven't encountered any problems since.
I keep thinking Orange will get their act together, but sadly they have not. Time for a change.
Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Centre are top of our holiday destinations - you are lucky to live near by!
