I got a new laptop in Febuary and it has Vista on it and since then I have had to have my broadband wired because it cannot seem to connect wirelessly! I gave my XP laptop to my flatmate and he can connect wirelessly, and I have tried to connect to it with at least 3 other Vista laptops of friends and I've had no joy. I've read quite a lot of things saying that it cannot be fixed and that I'll have to settle for wired connection?!

Please help, its driving me loco.

Hi there, yes, this happened to me-I thought I was having problems with my laptop etc but it turns out that if you are running Vista 32 bit then you will not be able to connect wirelessly...64 bit seems to be ok. Some sort of software problem it seems..
In my case, I reverted to XP and now it works fine!
Im sure other, more informed people on here will give you a better response, Im no techie Wink

but just going off my own experience.

Which livebox do you have?

32 bit Vista can connect to the Inventel livebox.

You could try changing the encryption mode on the livebox and see if you have any luck. Some wireless can get confused with these settings.

Also if your livebox has a pairing button, make sure to press this when first trying to connect.

I'm not sure what my type of Livebox is. Its about A4 size....?

Also I don't know what the difference between 32 and 64 is, can someone explain?

Is the pairing button the one that has "1" on it?

Yes button 1 is the pairing button on the old style livebox.

Yes Pairing is the way to go. Unfortunately how to switch on "Pairing" is not the same on all versions of Livebox.

Try this connection as it allows you to select different versions of Livebox.
