Hi all, bear with me here, I know this is bread and butter stuff to most of you, but I have a couple of nagging questions...
Im using a wired Livebox to my desktop pc. No problems. I would like to go wireless and was wondering if the Livebox is wireless capable-if so, do I need to attatch anything to it to make it wireless, (eg something like the wireless adapter on the back of my Xbox, which was a seperate purchase) or is it ready as it is? I understand that my pc needs a wireless card or adapter to receive the signals (and Im pretty sure it doesnt have one fitted!), but how about the Livebox?
If thats not possible, how about using a different 'box', ie not a Livebox? Is that possible, and any recomendations-brand/price etc??
And as a bit of an afterthought, are these speed test results good/bad/pathetic? (Im on 8meg service) Download=4.13mbs, Upload= 0.51mbs Ping (?!)= 57mbs
The livebox should already be wireless capable without any additional hardware. You just need a wireless adaptor for your PC, if it doesnt already have it.
You can check its settings by entering the address 192.168.1.1 in your internet browser and using admin as the username & password.
The wireless device would first need to be 'paired' with the livebox to allow future connections.
What are you currently connecting via wireless, your XBox to?
For Orange, those stats seam good, though its hard to be precise without more details such as your router stats, distance from exchange etc.
