I have had the same email address for years and about a year ago I found I couldn't send emails anymore. To this day I can only receive and not send!! I use Outlook express and I have tried Others too with the same results. Im running XP SP3 my ISP is Sky. The trouble started before over a year ago when only sometimes they could be sent. I use Norton and disabled that email checker but still no joy!!
I have tried smtp.orange.net and I get this error:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Orange', Server: 'smtp.orange.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have tried 193.252.22.188 inplace of smtp and I get this error:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Orange', Server: '193.252.22.188', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Of course I can go to Orange mail site and I can happily send from there but I want to use Outlook Express surely thats not too much to ask??
I called Sky tonight and they have said its not a problem with them and I agree.
Please can somebody offer some help before a pull the final hair from my head!!
If you need any more info from me let me know guys!!
Yes that would be correct if I was wanting to use my Sky email, also Sky told me tonight that the settings should be for Orange, when I did try this smtp setting it asks for the server password which is for Sky which is not correct,
I tested the smtp and it states :'220 mail4.gct21.net ESMTP'. This means that it is not blocked
I'm not trying to set up Sky email I want to use my Orange.net email account which till recently did send emails...I have had this email address for over 10 years!! and worked perfectly on outlook express, the only way I can send is going to Orange email online which is OK but I want to use Outlook Express.
I don't need Sky tutorial as I already know how to use Sky email.
I could hit the Sky forums but I don't think that's going to help as if there was help out there I'm sure google would have found it in the first place.
Is this a mobile email address? Or is it a web based email account which does not work in outlook?
Outlook works with the following Orange email address endings:-
yourname.orangehome.co.uk
yourname.wanadoo.co.uk
yourname.freeserve.co.uk
yourname.fsnet.co.uk
yourname.fsbusiness.co.uk
yourname.fslife.co.uk
yourname.fsworld.co.uk

This email address is *****@orange.net which until recently was working perfectly with Outlook express. Also I can use this email address perfectly at Orange web. It became sporadic a while back with Outlook express and now just doesn't want to send email with Orange and in fact Boltblue (******@boltblue.com).
After some googling I've found this which may help - You could apply for a SkyUser SMTP account. Seems a number of people that could not send emails from Orange and other ISP's have had their problems resolved by using this workaround.
