Ive recently swapped over to Orange from Virgin cable, on account of getting it free with a contract mobile.
The service is advertised as being up to 8Meg (of course never expected to get that!) but the prediction for my location is 4.5 Meg.
I seem to be getting between 1.9-2.3 Meg. I had a phone call the other day from Orange to ask if everything was ok, fine, working etc. I said yes, but was a bit disappointed that the speed wasnt up to the predicted 4.5Meg. They agreed that that seemed a bit slow, and suggested I log the speed over 3 days at 3 different times each day at speedtester.BT.com/
Ive tried that, but after successfully entering my phone number, it doesnt like my username - comes back with an error.
Ive tried entering it in the form of <mysurname>.orangehome.co,uk, and also the email address I was assigned, including a weird one of "annemarie@<mysurname>.orangehome.co.uk (even though there is no Anne Marie here!) but no luck!
just wonderng if Im doing something a wrong in what username Im supposed to enter? Ive tried everything I can think of but no luck.
If it helps I checked the SamKnows website, and my exchange allegedly is an OrangeLLU if that makes a difference. Cheers for any help.
You use your broadband userid which is something like :
surname.orangehome.co.uk@fs
ah thank you! I had a feeling the answer would be obvious once I saw it
now that its worked, I see it comes back with this report on my connection
"Your configured download throughput speed for this service is 2000 k"
and then when the check completes....
Your DSL connection rate: 2752 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1827 kbps
the exact figure of 2000kps suggests my connection is set (limited?) to 2Meg??
When I type try to enter my phone number in that BT speed test website i get an error too. Then when I try to enter my Orange username instead of my phone number it wont let me type the whole thing.

That's because you must be on LLU and not IPStream, use speedtester.net to test your speeds.
I got told to use thinkbroadband.com by Orange but it's giving false readings now.

I have been having soooo many problems with Orange in the past few months, speed wise, now ive been looking into it. Ok so my line speed says its 7.6kbps, but my ip profile is set to 2000kbps. Does this mean the my connection is being limited by Orange ?
