I've got a strange disconnection problem with my livebox. We have 2 computers running vista connected to the livebox via ethernet cable. One computer is next to the live box and the other is upstairs connected by a 10m cable.
The computer upstairs gets disconnected for no reason upto 10 times per day, well I can't seem to find a reason. It can be very random, like d/c after 20 mins of the computer being turned on. The only way I have found to fix the problem is to pull the plug and reboot the router, which is annoying to say the least. Seemed to have started around Oct/Nov 08.
We bought a new router to see if there was a problem, and since its been isntalled, no disconnects what so ever. The new router was installed for 3 weeks. I wanted to make a call using the voip on the livebox so I put the livebox back, and guess what...more disconnections.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Just a dodgy livebox or something else?
I have this problem too, again started around Oct/Nov 08.
The quickest way to get the locked out pc back on-line is to swap the leads into the Livebox over. (This will of course lock out the first PC).
But by changing some of the settings in the Livebox, I have been able to get it to work - until it locks up again!
In the My Services/Live TV configuration, Change the Ethernet Auto setting to disabled and the Digital TV to disabled.
This will work for a week a month or a day - until it decides to lock up again!
Go back to My Services/Live TV configuration and chance the Ethernet Auto setting to ENABLED this time.
This will again work until it decides to lock up again!!
And so the story begins again.
This is the solution I have found, but there must be a better, more permanent solution!
