I used to be with Orange until they got so bad that I moved to a decent ISP (bethere). I retained my freeserve.co.uk email address and access it through the Orange website at least once every 2 days. However, this week whenever I've tried to log into it I get the message "We apologise but this account is currently unavailable" - clicking on the "More Info" link gives me a 404 Not Found error.
Does anyone know what the cause might be?

You don't mention how long ago you left Orange but I suspect your problem relates to the fact that when you left your account was made Dial Up. Dial Up Accounts remain active for about 250 days or thereabouts and will then be closed if you haven't dialled up to it in that time.
I left Orange in January and my Freeserve.co.uk account remained active until sometime in September when I got the same message as you are now getting.
Good news about leaving is I'm no longer faced by the 300 plus spams per day that Orange so kindly used to fill my inbox with.
Go to Orange home page. At bottom of left hand menu find 'Your account'
Click on 'internet account' enter your address and password. Follow instructions on page but don't install.
You have 40 days to do this after account is suspended.

I tried the above but got a message stating "We didn't recognise your email address or password. Please try again." I have tried dialing up and retrieving the address from the site to no avail.
The link I posted is from clicking on Restore Internet Account, from the Help and Support box in the middle of the Orange homepage. As far as I am aware you cannot access the Member Centre if your account has been closed.
