Have had to restore my system twice today as each time I shut my machine down, it automatically loads the latest six Windows updates, then when I restart my PC it cannot get access to the Internet ,,, it says "IE cannot display the webpage" with the message "res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm#" being shown at the foot of the page.
Once I restore it back to a date prior to when the updates were available, everything is fine.
Any ideas what may be causing this and how to resolve it?
Thanks for the advice guys. Certainly the link to the "ieframe" website offers lots of ideas re things to try.
In the meantime, I have re-installed Norton Internet Security which I was half way through downloadiing, as my subscription was about to run out. I left that to complete and have then installed 4 out of the 6 XP updates, and so far everything seems to be fine.
I'll try the next two XP updates next, but thanks for the responses and help so far.
