On 2nd November my internet suddenly stopped working and my Livebox (or Deadbox as I affectionately call it) displayed 'Link Down'! I tested and replaced all wiring, filters and reset the Livebox to make sure the fault wasnt at my end and proceeded to phone Orange to report the fault!
To cut a long and infuriating story short, over the past 30 days my internet was down I was told, the fault was at the exchange, it was on the line, it was my set up, the fault had been resolved (it hadnt), back to the fault was at the exchange again and then the line etc. Everytime I rang, I was met with totally inept tech support, they are obviously reading from a card and not at all interested, the fault was always at a different place and they kept going around in circles. So I finally requested my MAC code on the 14th November and started the migration process to o2 (now Sky)!
I was given an activation date of 2nd Dec from o2 (now Sky), who communicated me by email and mobile text at every stage of my account activation, they were absolutely brilliant!
o2 (now Sky) activated the line on the date promised and Voila I have internet again at twice the up and down speed of Orange!
You have to ask yourself what the hell did Orange do in the 30 days my connection was down to repair the fault, when o2 (now Sky) can simply connect me straight away!
Had to laugh when Orange then phoned me and ask if my internet was working now as they had done some work, so I told them yes it is working and its great but that was because I was no longer with Orange!
So my advice is if your out of contract and you get any sort of problems with Orange then simply migrate elsewhere asp. You may never have had problems in the past but please dont wait for them to do anything, they wont!
They are the worst ISP I have ever been with, tech support is useless, I am not an expert but I knew more than they did and were bamboozled at some of the points I made!
Check your bank statements/cr card statements carefully - Orange will probably carry on charging you as they will deny that they have been informed of your migration - if you are on DD -STOP IT!!
