wondering if someone can help me (or point me in the right direction)
my friend has a freeserve email account, which he can log into through Orange. the problem he has is that he can't turn on the spam filter, it comes up with an error saying that he is trying to send a email with a common virus title, and that he should check his computer for virus's. sorry for the poor description, i'm going round to his house tomorrow, so will be able to tell you the full error code later if needed.
so wondering if anyone knows what the error is, and how to fix it ? or has anyone got contact details preferable email, as i don't wanna spend all day of the phone to a kid reading a script, wasting time and money
full error message on trying to set spam to be sent to junk folder is
"Your message has not been sent for one of the following reasons:
* The service may be temporarily unavailable, so please try again later.
* Or, your message may have been blocked because it has similar characteristics to a known virus.
To make sure your computer is not infected and is protected against viruses, we recommend that you install virusprotection software such as McAfee VirusScan.
If your computer is clean, please try changing the subject of your email. "
Same here. The little radio buttons don't work, and the error comes up after every attempt to modify the filters, as if I am trying to send a message. Can't get it to put all the spam into the junk folder
Edit:
I got this working by fiddling around with the "Create/Manage folders" option on the left side menu.
I first created a folder called "junk", and then, once that was done, right below on the same page is a section called information. In there, is an option to set up filters. I had none set here, but I made one to have everything with SPAM in the title, sent to my own newly created "junk" folder.
(This bit worked because as I was doing this, some spam arrived and it was shunted into the new folder).
After saving this, when I came back out of the Manage folders section, and went into the normal "Anti-Spam" section on the left menu, the radio buttons behaved normally and I was able to select to have the junk emails sent to the 'real' Junk Email Folder, without receiving the silly send error with its virus nonsense waffle
I don't know what this did, because everything still worked even after I went back into the "Manage Folders" part, and deleted my newly made junk folder, and also deleted my own spam filter that I had created in the section below that.
Hope this helps some of you. I don't even know if it was all needed, but that's what I did anyway..it got a result.
