Following is a tale of severe woe with regards to Orange.
I took out a 12 month Home Max contract with these people which expired
in June 2008.
I have had a never ending issue with regards to their strange billing system
which never took my payments, and as I later discovered actually did take my money, but paid it into an Orange Mobile Account, even though I have never had an Orange Mobile.
Needless to say, I kept getting my broadband and telephone cut off due to their administrative errors.
They have now sorted this error of their own making, and my account is fully paid up.
However, I contacted them today asking for a MAC code as I have had enough of their gross incompetence.
To whit, I was told that I had to pay £100 as the contract was renewed by them in June 2008 on verbal agreement.
I never agreed to anything verbally with these people and the excuse the Orange call centre monkey gave me was that as I had been in contact with them to fix their billing errors, I was therefore complicit in agreeing the new contract.
Surely this is unlawful.
When contacting them today, I asked why my speed was limited to 512K, of which the call centre gibbon asked me to clear my IE cache, turn off my firewall and * my anti-virus software, and run a speedtest at www.speedtester.BT.com.
This I did, and it duly reported that the 7616 kbps downstream capability is being hindered by the IP Profile set by Orange at 500kbps.
At this time on a home Max contract. IE ( 8MB and Home Phone )
I have a 512k connection and have had no home phone since Febuary.
These people are liars, cheats and thiefs.
For reference, I am an IT Consultant by trade and have been for the past 28 years and I have never seen such incompetence with regards to customer service and failure to train offshored employees.

They have a habit of renewing peoples contract for the slightest thing without telling them. probably a way of keeping customers, going by reports they are losing customers by the sackload.
Hi do you know of any way i can legally break my contract with Orange as i have had nothing but problems for 9 months since I joined their broadband home max package, it seems to disappear regularily at 5 each evening and when it returns the speed is deplorable, to get my google bar up it took 15 minutes one evening. It took Orange 3 months to get me connected and they allowed me free broadband for Three months Then I spent at least 6 hours talking to them on trying to get it connected. They then had the audacity to phone and ask me if I was satisfied with their service. (The only time I have had a call from their UK call centre) I can not tell you what i told them. But this also spreads to their mobile telephone service I have never been able to top up with my registered card (needless to say an Orange marbles card) after 3 months they got to the bottom of it when I changed my mobile provider What they had done was reversed a 6 to a 9 on my expiry date how they managed this i dont know . So please if anyone knows a way out let me know
