Hi All,
I've got one of the original free dial up freeserve accounts (ie. not Anytime). I use broadband with antoher account (don't ask, it's complicated) but I need to keep my old freeserve account active as I use the webspace and the email address. In order to do this, I've dialed up occasionally and downloaded a few emails etc...
Anyway, today I don't seem to be able to use the account anymore. I can dialup and have my username and password accepted but nothing works. Attempts to download emails fail, pinging pop.freeserve.net returns a 'Destination net unreachable' message and attempts to use internet explorer result in nothing happening even though the connection icon and properties show that data is constantly downloading!!.
So what's going on??. Is anybody else having these problems?. has something changed without notification?. Has anybody got a URL to somewhere that shows the correct freeserve account settings so I can check mine?. - Ta.

Hi yes is it outlook express you are using if so change the pop to pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp to smtp.orangehome.co.uk
if you want to view it on internet go to www.orange.co.uk and type in email address and password
Thanks, at least I know I can get webmail through the Orange website. However, that doesn't fix my dial up problem. Has someone got a URL that will tell me the phone number and connection setup for XP?. I just don't understand why this has stopped working - perhaps the phone numbers have been changed - I'm currently using 08450796699, but I assume that there are others.
Can anyone advise?.
how to check you are using the correct number to access Dial-up Pay As You Go
Article ID: kb3512
All Dial-up Dial-up Pay As You Go (No Ties) dial-up numbers start with the prefix 0844 or 0845 and are charged from 1p per minute.
The Dial-up Pay As You Go dial-up numbers are: 0844 058 7000 or 0845 079 6699
checking that you are connecting with the correct dial-up number:
open Internet Explorer
click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options
click on the Connections tab
double-click on the Orange, Wanadoo or Freeserve account listed in the box at the top of the panel - it should have the word [Default] after it
in the 'Dial-up settings' section click on the Properties button
make sure that the correct number appears in the 'Area code' and 'Telephone number' boxes near the top of the panel. You may see the number preceded by 1470 if you have enabled your Caller Line Identity (CLID)
click OK, OK and OK again to return to Internet Explorer
