complete newbie here but joined out of frustration as I can't seem to get any sense out of the Orange help desk grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I logged on last night to find that one of my regular websites suddenly became unavailable ...I just got the normal IE can not display the webpage message
after a while I contacted the site adminstrators by email and was assured all was well there end...they advised me to do a tracecert and ping test which I did ...this seemed to confirm the problem was mine and not theirs so I called Orange.
After 20 mins of the normal garbage telling me to do the obvious such as delete history/cookies etc they told me that it was a problem with my browser. I explained that it was impossible as I can't access the site from either of the 2 laptops I have or my Orange mobile phone!
When I try to use the phone I get a message that says DNS failed.
I have also been told that other members with Orange broadband are having the same problem accessing the same website.......
any ideas what I can do now to get Orange to pull their finger out and accept responsibility for this would be most welcome
Go to http://blockedsiteaccess.com and once there enter the address of the website you are having trouble with. If it works then you know Orange have blocked it.

oh my god that's brilliant - it worked immediately!
The issue is, of course, you are paying for a service from Orange that you are not getting! It's nothing to do with them what websites you should be allowed to access...
Hey guys, great work with this forum. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my pursuit of justice from these people!!!
I was just wondering if someone could check www.dvd.co.uk for me? (Wasnt sure where to put this request, but this thread looked appropriate!)
I was able to access it fine yesterday, now today I have been unable to. I did manage to access it from another location earlier, and by using that blockedsiteaccess.com. However there site has gone down a few times in the past, so I'm not sure if its me just hitting it when it's down, or if indeed Orange are screwing with my restrictions!!!!!

I'll be very p****d off if they have!!
Many thanks!!!
I have just tried the dvd.co.uk site and draw a blank there too!
My last conversation with Orange was that they could reach my site with their servers so I was to go away and try again in a few days - can I urge everyone who is experiencing this problem to call and make a real nuisance of yourselves with their Help Desk......maybe then they will pull their finger out and give us some customer service!
There is a current problem accessing Digital Spy site, for Orange users only.
I've already fired an email off to Orange, but don't hold out much hope.
If anyone can suggest a way around the problem, that would be great.

Routing / DNS Issues (Updated)
We have received reports that some users are having problems accessing parts of the Digital Spy site at present.
We suspect this is a Routing or DNS issue as it is only affecting customers of certain ISPs.
If you are experiencing problems when trying to access the site, please contact us (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/contact/forum/) and include the following information:
- your ISP (ie. BT, AOL, Virgin Media)
- full traceroute information: this can be obtained by entering 'tracert digitalspy.co.uk' at the command prompt
We will update this message with any developments.
Thanks

Update Saturday - it now looks like this is a routing issue on the Orange Broadband Network please complain to your ISP if you know someone having a problem with this issue. This is unfortunately out of our control but we are complaining as well on your behalf.

I'm having the same trouble with digitalspy but I went on the blocked access site that was suggested above and entered the digitalspy address and it worked. http://blockedsiteaccess.com/

That's just a quick proxy fix tho', please message Orange with the problem via the 'Orange Email Address' Contact-Us form (link is down near the bottom), the more people that message the problem, the quicker it'll get fixed.

Bingo!
that worked.
Thanks very much
I've run off an email to Orange if that'll do any good.
I am serious thinking of jumping to Sky (it won't cost me any more than at present) I've been with freeserve/orange/wanadoo for 12 years and things are certainly getting worse.
