<Livebox Issues? ~ Livebox stopped working @ light flashing continuously

Hello All
New to this so hope you can help me!!!!
I have had the Orange livebox since February 2008 and all has worked fine. I was unable to get the livebox to work wireless however have been more than happy with wired connection.
However for a week now my livebox has been playing up and I can no longer connect to the internet. I have switched the device on and off several times (which in the past would get it working again) however now it's having none of it. The @ light now lights up slowly and then constantly!! When I went into the properties of my computer with the intention of un-installing and re-installing the livebox is nowhere to be seen! So having played the Orange installation cd I am stuck at the part where the @ light should be solid or flashing slowly.
I called the Orange support team the other day who advised me I may need new filters etc - however nothing has changed for my livebox to suddenly stop working. Upon hearing this I was about to head out and buy new filters until I read some of these forums.
Can anyone advise if they have been through the same and what action I should take. Or if you think there is a simple solution to this please let me know!!!!
I am soooo untechnical so can be quite frustrated when attempting to get this to work!!!!!!
