OK, this has happened 3 times now in the last couple of weeks.
I get at least 300 mail a day (nearly all spam!) so when i check first thing in the morning i can expect at least 150.
But now and for 3 different occassions.... no mail!
it logs in and checks with no errors but no mail.
Tried mail2web and no mail.
sent myself mail... no mail.
Then after hours.... they all come in????
Anyone esle had this?
I've got exactly the same problem as you. The server seems to keep going down for a few hours at a time this week, but on this latest occasion it's even worse because I now haven't received a single email since about 4.30 yesterday afternoon.
I've emailed Orange and I'm currently waiting for a response.
Yeah i have emailed them too, dont hold out much hope of a sensible reply though!
Its got to be something at there end because nothing changes at ours.
I use Outlook 2007, and normaly receive 10-15 emails daily, the Orange webmail service filters out about 200 spam messages daily.
I have not received any emails since Friday 11-00am, no error messages from Outlook, performs normal send/receive just no email coming in. Checked Orange webmail, no emails in the inbox nothing comes when check email done. No error messages from the Orange webmail account.
Appears to be a problem with the Orange Email server, but on past experience we the Orange customers will not be informed of any problems, nor will Orange admit its nothing to do with our systems.
"I'm really glad to see this thread as the same thing has happened to me. I also have a "Freeserve" email adress and I have not receieved ANY email since Friday (311008). Outlook Express is still "SENDING" emails, but nothing is coming in.
Tried all the usual stuff, checked settings -POP, SMTP, corrupted inbox, all that stuff, but couldn't see anything wrong, searched Google for anyone else having probs, wasted most of Saturday trying to get it to work
I even went to the Orange homepage and logged in to read my email"online" ---NOTHING, not a single email.
For anyone who is not too computer savvy I can assure you that this is a problem at the Orange server, it is nothing to do with your computer.so don't be wasting money ringing for help from Orange --THEY DON'T CARE!!!
They haven't even got the decency to put an alert on their support or homepage to say there is a problem, of course then they wouldn't be making a fortune out of all the people who ring for support.
My only option at the moment is to contact everyone in my address book and give them my alt Hotmail address...I really don't want to do this as it's the only email I have that's spam-free."
This is no surprise after the "MySite" fiasco, just another example of the great customer service from Orange.
Still none here..
Tony sez on the adjacent post on the same subject-
ORANGE HAVE CONFIRMED EMAIL PROBLEM.
WILL BE SORTED IN 24 HRS (MON 3 NOV 2008)
Anyway, I emailed them yesterday--
I have not received ANY email via Outlook Express since Friday 31 Oct, even when I log-in to Webmail. There is nothing wrong with my PC or settings. How long before this problem is fixed? Will I be receiving a REBATE on my monthly Broadband bill as I am not getting the service I am paying for?
...and got this reply--
Thank you for your email. We understand your concern. In order to check the account status, kindly provide us the required information. Please note that we always respect the privacy of your personal information but we do need to undertake some quick security checks for reasons under the Data Protection Act (DPA). 1) Your full name with which you registered 2) Your account email address: 3) Your date of birth: 4) Your postcode: 5) 1st and 3rd characters of your password: 6) BT telephone number which you use to connect to the Internet As soon as we receive the information we will certainly help you.
So...they WILL help...but only after the Spanish Inquisition
They continue--
In the meantime, we advise you to follow the steps below to resolve the issue :....
...followed by a whole page of advice, and links which take you to the Webmail login page, which I'd already told them DIDN'T work.
If anyone wants me to post the whole page just say so, but basically they suggest trying these workarounds/ solutions--
Creating a new profile-- (Tried that, didn't work)
Disabling AV--
Delete stuck email-- (How would I do that? I can't GET to my emails)
Trying a different PC--(I'm sure, like me, you have dozens in your house)
Reset Internet Explorer--
... surprisingly they forgot to discuss my suggestion of a rebate on my bill.
Ill email them back.
I have an .fsnet.co.uk address. Still have internet access, but no email since 31 October, not even the spam (I normally get over 600 spams per day). When authenticating it immediately disconnects, both sending and receiving.
Nothing on the Orange webmail access (empty Inbox, empty Spam folder), nothing through Outlook Express, nothing using Mailwasher.
Did so, still no response by telephone (gave my phone number).
What the heck is going on? And as for a rebate, let alone progress updates, perhaps we should all ask for the common reference number for this incident (it must have one by now).
Well, just came back home, tried OE and it worked!!! logged in to the clunky Orange webmail page --It Worked!!! Ran a few test emails and it is still not working perfectly but at least it works...
It's getting some test emails but not others and not ALL the ones I'm sending from me to me via Orange...if that makes sense
BTW when I DL'd my emails there were 34...considering I haven't had any since Friday there should have been about 600-700..they've all gone forever, even the ones I thought had been "Sent" while the email was down.

Time to look for a new ISP....
Emails now coming through (about time) but NOTHING from before the crash. So Orange have lost 3 days of important emails for me, without explanation.
Poor. Very poor. Anyone know how to complain to Ofcom about this?
Me too, now getting some mail but nowhere near what should be coming in and all dated from now so i guess the last 3 days worth have gone for good.
This really is not good enough and Orange should at least have the facillity to let you know of system problems.
So many people must spend a fortune on the phone to them when there is clearly nothing that can be done at your ed as it is a problem at oranges end.
I hope that this doesnt happen again but i wont hold my breath!
I am getting some emails in as well - but not all as I have sent test messages from my work email and they have not been delivered. An email from someone else received just now was sent at 8.30 this morning - what is happening I have no idea. It seems too that not all the emails I have sent have been received. If anyone finds a method of contacting Orange please would they post it on here as I think we should make a fuss - the lack of information and unhelpfulness of staff in India (polite, but unhelpful!) was no use at all. A link someone posted earlier to contact Orange did not work.
