Hey guys, first post here Well, I'm an avid gamer, mainly to the Counter Strike series, Source in particular, and every night now for the past....say...month now, from around 7pm onwards I get ping's on UK based servers of about 90-300, making the game unplayable and I play matches competitively a lot...well....I try ¬¬
I'm on the Orange 8MB family package thing, like because of my family's phone contract we get it cheaper or something, not that sure >.<
But yeah, I'm Meant to be getting 8MB and I'm barely on 2MB according to the Inventel thingy:

And my supposed one was 8MB yesterday but now its only 6 o.O: Attainable download rate (kbps) : 6784
What can I do about this? Could I leave Orange and look for a better ISP in my area or is it my area that's causing me to get such a small internet connection? + If I wrote to Orange would they do anything about it (Heard phoning is a bad idea due to customer service?)
If anyone could give a few tips that'd be great, and if I do have to resort to writing to Orange, can somebody write where it has to go? thanks alot :]
I have literally exactly the same problem, except it's only been going on for about 2 weeks. I can barely connect to servers, and when I do my ping's about 200-300 pretty much constantly. I've tried everything I can think of, and I know for a fact that it's nothing to do with either my software or my hardware. I'm in the UK, using a livebox.... What else can I say. Actually, there is one thing, when I'm not having these problems (usually during the day) I'm getting a better latency that I've ever had before (On my favourite server it usually averaged out at about 45, and recently it's been doing about 35 except for after 6-7pm.) Where do you live, Lant? Maybe it's something to do with location?
North Wales matey. I've kind of fixed my problem, it stops rising at 70 and then after 5 minutes it goes down, but still, its an annoyance >.< Just left my cables out of my livebox for a night :\ Try the same
