I have just upgraded from 2 meg to 8 meg via the max package, NOW my connection is like dialup real slow? i did phone Orange to complain, but they said they would check my BT line, yeah yeah i thought!! and im not a happy chappie as my 12 yr old WAS using online gaming with the PS3, unless Orange sort this out with in 72 hrs i'm gonna cancel my contract . does anyone know how much they charge to get out of the contract, i signed up for 18 mths.. please help guys, A really P****ed off Orange customer..
How slow are your speed tests? And out of interest, was this a special retention package with a lower monthly charge to keep your custom?
You have to give them reasonable chance to fix the problem before you can start cancelling on grounds of "not fit for purpose". They may resolve it by putting you back on 2MB. Even though you're on an "UP TO 8MB", this won't be grounds to cancel either if the speeds are reasonable and to cancel, you'd have to pay them ALL the outstanding rental
Did you make a note of your upstream synch rate before and after. It could be you've been LLU'd, although I thought they were rolling out ADSL2+ and things were getting better at Orange
Keep notes of when you first called them and your progress so far and any call reference numbers they send you. Good Luck

LLU=Local Loop Unbunding.
Essentially means the Internet Service Provider has put their own kit in your local excahnge, rather than leasing the service from BT. In theory the ISP can then offer you better speeds and lower prices. But Orange being Orange...

Which is interesting, because when you do decide to leave Orange, and they try and tell you speeds will be the same with the new ISP, then you can tell them no it won't, because you'll be attached to different equipment at the exchange
