Folks,
I left Orange for o2 (now Sky) and all inside 3 weeks from start to finish.
I was out of contract so that helped as did NOT bothering to speak to anyone to get a MAC code - instead I emailed their customer support team in the first week of August with a simple clear message that I wanted to leave, didn't want to discuss it with anyone and simply wanted the MAC code to allow me to migrate to o2 (now Sky). After providing some security details that were requested by the support team the code was emailed to me 3 days later, passed to o2 (now Sky) and the transfer completed on August 18th...job done and at less than half the cost of Orange and nearly twice the speed I am one happy chappy
o2 (now Sky)'s support so far has been outstanding with text messages being sent to me throughout the migration to keep me updated on progress and completion dates which were all adhered to.
Glad it all went well for you the same happened to me. I moved from Orange to o2 (now Sky) all within two weeks, im sure you've read my thread all about my switch over & for anyone else who hasn't READ IT NOW:
after 18 phone calls most of which were logged badly by a range of Orange personnel I am forced to accept I have to pay £xxx for the remaining duration of my contract. My wife and I moved X months ago and have had no reception. When she needed an emergency scan she was not able to contact me at home. From day 1 I have tried to get out of my phone contract after many happy years with Orange. I expect them to provide the service ie a viable phone line and not to stick to the contract of 99.x coverage. I do not expect my pregnant wife to go to the bottom of the garden to phone me or levitate 20 foot to get a signal. Now for those who say it is my fault for moving without checking the signal (as did the oh so helpful Orange rep) on the day we looked round the signal was ok. It is intermitent and drops calls 99 out ofa hundred - our bad luck. When I buy a tv I expect to get a picture when I move house. I expect my car to have wheels I expect a national phone service to have a national phone service. Apparently if the fault is accepted by their IT experts then they can recommend a disconnection no charge. But the fact is that these cough experts say that it is ok to have to go down to the bottom of your garden to make calls. Now wouldn't I like to see the following advert from Orange.
George Clooney goes into a room of executives and pitches the following - imagine the scene... a woman, flowing clothes runs down the wet grass - in labour, and gets to the bottom of the garden where she reaches out high sunwards trying to get reception. There is a pause - then the sound of a baby crying - suddenly george appears and swaddles the baby and all is well... until irate husband comes in having missed the birth and baby catches toxiplasmosis from contact with the soil.... it's a hit!
so i will not be rejoining Orange when Vodafone and Orange share the same masts next year - I will let the contract run out and spread the word that in my experience Orange is run by heartless machines who put profit over customer service and satisfaction. That said the woman on the end of the phone did her best and was as helpful and nice as she could be... pity she had no real power.
Oh and Orange - I know you are monitoring this - and as this is still a free country I am allowed an opinion different to your own.
