Since June 2007 I have been getting speeds of 6 on LLU. In April this year ADSL2+ arrived and I was hitting 6.5. We now see reports of slow speeds again on previously good speed accounts. So is there a major problem?
Some reports blame low speeds on BBC iPlayer and Olympics. Orange have lost many customers recently and this quarter they could go under 1 million - so they will wish to retain customers at all cost.
Today my speed was just over 2.
If members post the following info I will update this post with their exchange details. We need a balanced picture so if your speeds are good please say so. Starting with mine.

Problems for me started on 20 April. Up until then I was consistently on 5.7 or 5.8, since 20 April I've been on a fixed sync of 2268 down and 285 up and no matter what I do this does not change. Connection speed is around 1945 down and 235 up (or thereabouts), absolutely no disconnects whatsoever.
I also have SNRM results consistently 30+ both up and down. All this data taken from the test socket with no telephony connected.
Downend Exchange- S. Gloucs
Data rate 2268 285
Noise margin 31.3 34.6
Output power 19.8 11.6
Attenuation 40.5 19.6
Default Gateway 91.111.0.1
Strangely, DMT software shows the connection is "ADSL2+ Interleaved path" at a depth of 32 down and 8 up. But the router stats do not show this nor does is indicate ADSL2+.....it's just blank...obviously confused by Orange.
I've given Orange until 1st September to either explain exactly what the problem is ( ) or correct it, otherwise I'm contacting OFCOM and ISPA......and probably asking for a MAC.
My guess is that Alcatel, who actually own the LLU gear, have coc#ed up big time along with Magdalene.....but Orange are unlikely to admit that.
Back in 2007 when I was having serious connection/speed problems, I remember saying on here that Orange were incapable of managing their contractors effectively and that problem still seems to exist.
Damn it......you must have nicked my share of the LLU, Keith
Definitely something seriously mega is happening on the Orange network......look at the latency ....first time I've seen over 600ms.
But I'm still on a 91.111 address, so there's no consistency.
Current stats :
Status No Defect (now that is a blatant lie)
Downstream Upstream
Data rate 2268 285
Noise margin 30.9 34.5
Output power 19.8 11.6
Attenuation 40.5 19.6

Connection is creeping back up to what it was before yesterday morning.
Having searched re. latency, it does seem that www.speedtest.net does not show accurate data for latency for some reason. It's best to ping a site such as bbc.co.uk or google.co.uk. My average for these sites is 48ms, whereas the speedtest result above is well over that.
But latency and RWIN are "related".....if latency changes significantly then RWIN should change.

There is definately something strange going on, we are on the Staveley (Derbyshire) exchange which was LLU'd towards the end of last year if I remember correctly, after experiencing speed fluctuations for the first couple of days it settled down to a steady 4meg which we were more than content with. ADSL2 (+?) was introduced a few months ago which resulted in a steady speed of 6.8meg so even happier. However, over the past few weeks we have seen a steady decrease dropping by approx. 2meg every couple of weeks and today we are now down to 1.5meg, this decrease seems to have coincided with some server work which I believe somebody posted about on here, although I have seen no official notification from Orange on the subject (not that I would expect to though lol) E-mailed Orange last night for MAC code as it looks as though we will migrate to o2 (now Sky) on a £7.50 a month up to 8meg no limits deal but am unable to access e-mails this morning, a note comes up to say that there is work going on but again without any pre notice to customers.
We have been with this company since dial up days with Freeserve through our old 14.4 modem (lol) so are very long term customers and have found the service on the whole to be acceptable but what is not acceptable is Orange's total lack of respect to customers as displayed by the fact that they do not come clean when there is a known issue but rather try to keep it quiet and hope nobody notices or leads them to believe that it is their own equipment.
So after all this time it looks as though it's goodbye from us.

Looks as though we have got a pattern starting now. I am also long term customer.
They obviously know how to give us decent speeds but have decided not to do so. I can see them going under 1 million customers now with loyal people like you going.
Come on Orange, you have been sprung again - put the speeds back up.
