Hi,
Am new to this forum! So hello to everyone. My dilemma - my parents live in France and own a livebox - we contact each night and they use there Apple G4 wireless airport to connect to a wanadoo livebox. Unexpectedly, yesterday it stopped working. My mother called to England for help! I've been on the phone for hours - I also own an apple machine. I have used all of the Orange help material - checked the wireless settings/re-paired the livebox - tried to get into the configuration ip addresses given - with no luck. The WEP code is on the bottom of the livebox - we can see the livebox and are asked for a password - we put it in exactly as required/caps/no spaces/no o's and still it won't connect. Next I move to try getting into the configuration using the 198.162.1.1 and http://configuration.adsl addresses - cannot access the configuration. Therefore I can't check the password details. I have tried calling the MAC support option offered by Orange - getting a nice asian chappy - who runs through all of the above - and still no result.
I wonder if there is anyone out there that can help me? This is a french livebox - appears the same as the uk version.

Does it work using an ethernet connection ?

Hi,
Thanks for your help - I did connect an ethernet cable - but am concerned that I should have changed some settings on the ethernet network page - however, on a basic tick ethernet and restart with cables it didn't appear to connect. Have you any recommendations?

So logically, it's down to either the livebox (dead) or the connection to the local exchange.

The fact that you can't connect to 192.168.1.1.....(you didn't use 198.162.1.1 as you stated did you Embarassed

) .....could indicate a livebox problem.

Thanks for your email - so you think the livebox/exchange? Do you know any additional ways I could test for this - as she will have to somehow order a new one? I'm sorry about the typos - very gently put by the way! But I definetly typed the correct configuration address in - my mum followed it from the wanadoo booklet in France too. Well any other ideas will be gratefully received. Smile

I'm not sure of the quality of Orange technical service in France...I guess France Telecom don't use the Indian call centre like they do in UK ??

If your parents could connect a replacement modem or router then that would test whether the livebox is faulty or not.
