Orange have now said they are doing away with sitebulider and replacing it with Website Maker by the end of July. You can migrate all your files by following instructions. Except you can't. I tried several times and they failed to appear. Not only that but when you sign up for the free Website Maker facility, it defaults to the Delux version which is free until January, then you will have to pay 2.99. a month. The terms and conditions are incomprehensible. I couldn't figure out if I am going to be automatically charged in 6 months time if I don't opt out.
I enquired if I can continue to use Terrapin FTP (£20 in Wanadoo days) They chose not to reply to that at all.
I have cancelled my Website Maker account altogether as I don't like the way they do things.
Yep I too had the email warning of this. I use FTP mysite to upload my weather station data - I'm not sure that the new Website Maker will do the same thing?? Can anyone comment?
Like a fool I clicked on the migrate button, nothing happened, but I don't like the idea of sleep walking into charges in January!!
The only 'files' that are migrated are the pictures. Not much use when you've got 2 years worth of match reports & fixture lists on your site, all linked via the ftp pages
Not impressed - never even thought about being automatically charged! There is no optionjust to use the basic web designer - only the deluxe.
I have been with freeserve from the start then through wanadoo into Orange and got nothing for my loyalty, the only thing keeping me with Orange was the ftp site now that's gone I'm also looking for another ISP as there are much cheaper ones now, I'm paying nearly 20 quid a month for this 1 meg connection, any suggestions?
if your looking for good hot linking hosting I seem to be getting on OK with fileden.com Unfortunately it wont do code or database hosting but anything else seems OK.
You get one gig of webspace, five gig bandwidth per month and it's free.
I agree with all the posts on this topic - I have not been able to access my website for over a month now, and canot even take it down. I ,too, will be giving Orange the elbow soon (having been with the firm since the early days of Freeserve) - am thinking of going over the Sky, which will only cost me and extra £10 on my present subscription and will work out much cheaper than staying with Orange. Bon chance mes amis, as far as I am concerned Orange can do that which is generaly recognised as being physically impossible!

We have added a page listing a number of web hosting companies that may interest you.. Some deals are better than others but they are worth checking out:
So I decided to leave - asked for a MAC code and they cancelled my account by mistake, so had to wait ten days for my line to be cleared before I could register with new ISP. (Am now with myostoffice, which is noticeably faster!)
But I cannot take my website down - it seems as though it will Be Broadband for ever! So my message to the arrogant Orange is UP YOURS MISTER!
