So my DNS servers are down again.- lost function about an hour ago. Thankfully the problems have become so frequent I know just what to do. Logged off popped the OpenDNS numbers in and carried on surfing.

More fixing to do I think

Why don't you just permanently stay on OpenDNS. They used quicker too

Because it redirects mistyped addresses to where it thinks I want to go, or gives me their error page. I prefer to have Google offer me suggestions straightaway.
If this is another connectivity problem what sort of problem is it that allows me to connect but not resolve web addresses, but which is corrected when I insert to the OpenDNS servers into my network connection fields? This is a genuine question, it could help with future problems at Orange.
Thanks for the info about switching off the redirect. I have just discovered there is a Firefox add-on that helps too.

In any case it's another way Orange can let me down I didn't know about.
I'll probably stick with OpenDNS then, it is certainly faster than Orange's DNS servers have been in the past. And even if your fix speeds them up, it's obvious from today that it routes around other network problems involving the DNS service.
