Hi Neighbour lol
Yes i left in august 2006 a month or so after Orange took over, the service was crap from when Wanadoo LLU'd the exchange in december 2005, it seems whoever trains Orange staff needs sacking immediately i think they must pluck them off the street outside their call centres and sit them in front of the phone and tell them any problems just talk crap lol.
They didnt want to give me a MAC to leave (wasnt compulsary then) i regualarly used to ring up to ask why i still havn't recieved it and they used to constantly hang up until 3 weeks later i contacted the ISPA i got my MAC within 2 hours of contacting them, ive been with 2 ISP's since IDNet and Bethere and have not had any problems since
When you decide to leave don't listen to the crap they give you about problems you will face if you leave its all crap to deter you especially now as they are desperate to keep customers their reputation isn't very good, no suprise there then.

My experience when I tried to leave (Dec 2006) was, being practically threatened by a really intimidating guy (the one who told me that I'd be internet-less for 3 months), then soothed into resigned submission by a nice woman who lowered my monthly fee to 12.99. I was frightened (by prospect of no internet) *and* cheap, I suppose. lol.
Thanks for your advice. It's times like the past weekend (really bad & intermittent connection) that I feel like ditching them. Then the situation improves somewhat and I slip into inertia again. But I'll definitely heed your words when I do finally decide to switch, and won't take no for an answer

Hi marienbad
It seems since i left all that time ago nothing has changed in fact its worse, out of all the large providers they are the most dishonest out of them how they get away with it is beyond belief.
If you decide to leave and offer you the earth to stay its best to just say give me the MAC or i will report you as whatever they offer you the service will still be the same, lying, traffic shaping throttling etc. i read somewhere yesterday they might be in line for a takeover after Tiscali is sold.
Good luck with whatever you decide

Thank you, and I'll keep your advice in mind.
I never knew Orange had such a terrible reputation. I just thought it was the kind of service everyone put up with.
Now I know better
If you are getting poor speeds on LLU name and shame your exchange here.
Starting with mine:
Weston-super-Mare - speeds 2.2 - 2.7
Orange will then know which exchanges they have to work on - probably all of them. These posts will also show which exchanges have Orange LLU, details of which Orange do not fully publish.
I have read on another newsgroup that Orange TS are saying:
"That the only `deliberate` capping in place is where users abuse the limits". A fault was raised for that exchange - result awaited.

29 April 2007 - All of a sudden speeds are increasing
May 2007 - Many slow speeds reported both LLU and Max.

18 June 2007 - Whilst some speeds are better, there are still reports of very slow speeds.
21 April 2008 ADSL2+ arriving and speeds increasing.
First Orange told me that the maximum I can get on my line is 2mb, then that suddenly turned into 1mb, but for a few days I actually got 4.5mb, but usually I get something along the lines of 200-400kb .
