Being another satisfied customer through the change from Freeserve to Wanadoo, despite showing extreme patience with all the problems since Orange took over, I finally threw in the towel and went to Virgin cable. (£11.50 per month including phone).
On ending my connection with Orange I was telephoned and asked why? (Pity they couldn't have been more attentive to my problems earlier, eh?) The conclusion of the conversation was they would reimburse me with two months payments for my troubles and a further £10 to cover the phone calls to the man in Bangalore (or wherever).
I was rather sceptical that I would ever see this as the following evening I received a call from Orange asking if I'd like to upgrade my package. However, the cheque arrived this morning!
As a footnote, Virgin left a lot to be desired in the installation of the cable, then the modem installation disc didn't run very well but on checking my "up to 2mb" connection with no download limit, I find it's 2.2mb! Oh, and the luxury of being able to leave the PC for twenty minutes without the connection dropping off is something a lot of Orange users can only dream about.
