Hi

I'm trying to help a friend sort his Orange connection out.
It was working fine up to about 2 weeks ago - suddenly stopped.
They have a Vista laptop & Speedtouch 330 modem.
I put in a Netgear Router to check it was not the speedtouch - same problem.
The router negotiates, connects ok at around 2mbps for around 10seconds then disconnects.
It does this continuously.
I have tried changing the MTU setting to various ones between 1400 & 1500 - no difference.
The log says that the CHAP authentication is OK, then 'loses synchronization'.
I have tried changing filters, plugging direct into the inner socket of the BT box.
I have been through the same process with my XP laptop - no better

I have spent ages onto tech support being taken around the usual loops - no success.

I have totally run out of ideas - any help appreciated

I reckon you've solved it without realising it !

If there's nothing wrong at your end of the connection which seems the case, then it must be between the exchange and the property.

Thanks - that is what I thought - so how do I about convincing Orange of that!!
Customer sevices are declining to go & look for a line problem.
