Nice of them to let you know wasn't it
A "clue" there may have been about the inception of ADSL2+ was an email I received on 12/2/08 that a software upgrade to the Livebox was soon to be downloaded everywhere.
That's the nearest to an "announcement" I've seen
All I thought was: "I hope the new firmware doesn't overwrite that in my Netgear router"...
I looked at my stats after reading this thread. It appears that my exchange has been upgraded to ADSL2+ as well. Not only has it slightly increased my speed, it also enables me to connect to the net with my Livebox for the first time since Orange switched me to LLU in November 2006! I've been using a Speedtouch modem since then... I also tried a Netgear router that hasn't worked on my connection for 18 months. It connected first time.
Back when this first started I spent hours on the phone with Orange tech support trying to trouble shoot the PPP Server Down errors I was getting with my Livebox - and was completely unable to get them to send an engineer to the exchange.
I gave up trying when I was able to get a connection with my old Speedtouch - and settled for that, assembling a Heath Robinson wireless network with a series of HomePlugs. So, now it appears there was a problem at the exchange all along...
