Hi, im trying to setup my email client to recieve email from a mail server other than pop.orangehome.co.uk but i get connection problems.
I tried telneting to pop.orangehome.co.uk 110 and it connects fine. however any other pop mailserver and the connection times out.
why is Orange blocking this? is there anything i can do to get round this?
I have a Gmail account set up in Outlook Express using pop.googlemail.com, this is via port 995. Best re-check with the mail server the settings you should be using.
There is a block on port 25 to any address except the Orange email servers. To get around this you need to use another port that the server you want to connect to has configured or use Orange's.
