The Money Programme: The Broadband Boom and You, BBC Two at 10pm on Wednesday 2 August.
Nine million households in Britain have turned their backs on these slow internet connections, and switched to broadband, freeing up their phone and allowing them to really surf the web.
Some 70,000 homes are now signing up for broadband every week, making it one of the fastest growing consumer products yet
We (The BBC Money Programme) have followed Three families as they tried to find their way through the maze of new deals and offers.
What a shame they didn't follow a family signing up for Orange!
If you would like to send feedback to this programme - i.e. tell them about your OrangeProblems, there is a contact form on the BBC Money Programme website:
Ok. The only mention Orange had was their internet/mobile package.
Poor TalkTalk. BT holding them back (what a supprise).
I feel sorry for that guy. He was paying £17/month for dial-up and still can't get bb because of BT not connecting him to Talktalk.

it's not BTs fault
it's TalkTalks they simply underestimated the responce and don't have enough staff to get customers connected more quickly and get their equipment in exchanges.
I have to say the program was rather poor. It went on and on about the BT videophone and completely failed to mention you could get similar features for a one of cost of £20 for a webcam and use something like Windows Live Messenger.

Must say BT did get a lot of exposure with their new toys!
Good to see Carphone Warehouse getting their share of the programme. At least they are honest enough to hold their hands up over their over-subscription issues. Other than the wait to set up a new connection, I have only heard good reports about their service!
NTL - well... If you're one of their customers, you know what to do - get on the phone and tell them you're changing your broadband supplier!!! They'll drop their prices!!!
And Orange... Well, their exposure abruptly interrupted by the potential customer chatting to NTL!
For information, the broadband consumer advisor was from uSwitch.com
I've known for a long time that Britain was lacking on internet technology but £24/month for HD-TV, phone and internet via 23Mbit connection and video on demand for £1.50 a film.
