<Livebox Issues? ~ Livebox fixed connection failing to remain connected

Situation I have is a livebox and a network that consists of 5 laptops, two or Three are regularly on all day. Laptops all wireless. Also have a couple of printers attached to the livebox via a netgear switch that is plugged into the red ethernet port. Switch also allows me to connect to a slingbox and hard wire the laptops if needs be.
So all is good until recently. Now we have the wireless drops out about every Three to four hours. Not too much of an issue as it auto reconnects, just very annoying. I had to adjust the livebox configuration (clear easy pairing and set the pairing window to 3 minutes) to get my laptops to work with the new software.
However, the fixed link just dies such that you cannot print. Only solution is to re-boot the livebox. This has happened Three times today in an eight hour period. While the fixed connection completely fails the wireless continues to work. Accessing the livebox configuration pages is deadfully slow during this time.
Reset the livebox and everything will be fine for about 2 or Three hours sometimes longer and then the fixed connection to the printers will disappear.
Laptops all running XP SP2 plus all updates. Printers are both HP.

I was about to post a very similar story to yours.
Mine also drops the fixed conection - I can't even ping the livebox when this happens. I have found that if I swap the ethernet cable to the yellow port it starts to work again. Then the same thing happens after a few hours and swapping back to the red connector does not work. The only solution then is to reset the livebox.
I am having exactly the same issue - identical in fact to both of you. Has disconnected 3 times already today. Is it a firmware thing perhaps? Mine has ADSL Firmware Version: A2pBT009c1.d17d Firmware Identification: v5.10.7-uk
I know it is occasionally updated by Orange over the wire.
It just did it again so I though a quick update with more info was in order -
When the Livebox stops responding, only two lights are lit - the @ light and the phone light, which are on solid. Once the box restarts, these lights are also lit plus the >> light flashes. Not sure if this helps with the problem evaluation or not?
More observations in this situation
firmware A2pBT009c1.d17d
medium security
UPnP enabled
I'm not using any wireless connections
I have not configured DHCP on livebox
I note in winXP the internet gateway drops off when problem occurs.
I cannot ping 192.168.1.1
If I pull out the rj45 connection from red port and plug it back in then internet is ok, but >> light flashes very slowly. I can then ping 192.168.1.1
Config pages are very very slow.
I have been monitoring my network for about a week (running a small program that constantly ping all addresses) and doing a few other things. Not terribly scientific but these are my observations:
1. Originally had a switch connected to the livebox via the red ethernet port. From the switch I connect two printers and a livebox. About 3 or 4 times a day the printers would "disappear" from the network. Remedy was a re-boot (power cycle) of the livebox
2. Using the VOIP phone the call would just drop.
3. Wireless just drops out two or Three times a day, comes back on its own
From what I observed and the timing of the events it would seem that my connection between the livebox and the exchange drops. I suspect this causes 2 and 3 above. However I am not convinced that 1 abve is connected (happens at different times). The hard wired ethernet port (red) just seems to lock up (wireless stays up while this is happening). Only a power cycle of the livebox seems to cure it.
I then moved the link from the switch to the yellow ethernet port. Network now much more reliable, only have to reset once a day rather than 3 or 4 times. Still get the wireless and VOIP issues
So my thinking is
1. Upgrade to box for faster speed to exchange has made the link less reliable and it now drops out every so often causing the wireless to drop (and VOIP interruption)
2. Upgrade also has introduced a bug in the handling of the fixed ports but yellow seems to be better than red. May be this is something with the TV service they are thinking of introducing, only a theory though. I have to ask why anyone would want to have their TV delivered by Orange, the Sky box works for me, but that is a different issue. BTW, Sky seem to have updated the software on their Sky+ service and that now locks up once in a while.
Anyway, end result. Upgrade causes problems, network moves from extremely stable to very irratating which results in me moving supplier so Orange's loss.
Hope that helps others out there struggling with Orange's stupidity of not testing their software upgrade adequately.

Identical setup and symptoms in my case also - inc. DHCP being disabled ( I run DHCP on Windows Server), and wi-fi disabled (I have external Wireless Access Point).
Incidentally, I moved recently. When setup at my old place I never had a single issue in over a year since I moved to Orange, and this includes the month or so I was running the live box in my old place after it was upgraded to the latest firmware - it worked fine! Upon moving home, I have had the problem ever since it got transferred. This would suggest that it's the line which is putting the livebox into turmoil - can't understand why this would cause 192.168.1.1 to be un-pingable!
I have a similar tale to tell - wired connection dies but can be revived by changing the connection from the red to the yellow port (or vice-versa). Wireless connections are ok though.
After the connection has died, trying to conect to the Livebox configuration is either extremely slow or fails, from both the wired & wireless connections. Livebox has to be restarted to clear the problem.
However since Christmas until this week the Livebox has reset itself once or twice a day on its own accord. This week its actually been conected for nearly 3 days. Before this it was reguarly connected for 20 days or more before re-synching.
My exchange was upgraded to ADSL2 about a month ago & apart from a faster connection saw no difference in the connection reliability.
Now the good bit, turning UPnP off from the wired pc has completely cured the connection 'freezing'. If I turn UPnP back on again then the connection will play up again after a day or two. Meanwhile UPnP is still 'on' on my wireless connections.
Conclusion is that UPnP & a wired connection has some conflict somewhere, that is not present in the wirelss set up. Not sure about the disconnects though they are not a major issue as it re-synchs readily enough.
I have raised a ticket with Orange (KMM12585813V15096L0KM).
following there advice have checked browser/disabled av+firewall/factory reset and re-entered username + pword.
so far all ok 2hrs 20minutes.
running perfmon with network settings 1 minute logging
Turned off UpNP in the livebox configuration pages and just to make sure turned it off in windows as well. HAD NO PROBLEMS SO FAR!!!
To be honest, unless you use the UpNP service, you are better off disabling it as I have heard it is a security risk.
