The broadband supplier Orange, are getting ready to increase their charges, for customers who are already with them, where there could be an increase of up to £10 per month.
They are also preparing to charge any new customers that join them a connection fee of £30 as from the 8th April.
However for Orange subscribers who live in areas where they are still waiting for Orange to install their own equipment at the BT exchanges, they will be looking at an increase of anything up to £7 per month more than what the current rates are.
The new tariffs will be for the Home Max broadband service £17 per month, but for Orange customers who are not on the unbundled service will be paying £25 per month, this is £10 more, but for non Orange customers the price will be £32!
This new pricing is going to be very confusing for both new and existing customers, with £10 over the life of an eighteen month contract proving to be quite a lot more than they initially expected.
If this story is true, then it would seem that Orange have decided to cut their losses and get out of the market for exchanges where they only resell BT Wholesale products.
The article is very badly worded, but it would seem to suggest that if you are NOT on Home Max LLU (e.g. still on Broadband Unlimited on a BT only equipped exchange) then the charge goes up to £25 if you have an Orange Mobile, or £32 if not.
My phone call to Orange to ask for my MAC goes in tomorrow if this is true

We're not convinced that the above "small print" should be small print - surely, the highlighted notes are essential information for any customer to consider... Especially the £30 connection fee which now applies to everyone and the minimum 18 month contract! - Beware the next time Orange phone you and cheerfully offer you an upgrade to your broadband speed - you'll be locked in to another 18 months!
Orange's new prices can be found on the Orange website here

I don't know where you got your info from, but that's not true at all.
Existing customers wont be affected.
The increase in prices of packages prior to 8th April, is £8 (non LLU areas) for NEW standalone broadband customers, and £8 (non LLU areas) plus £2 (general package price increase for all mobile+broadband customers).
As I said, all of this is for NEW CUSTOMERS, not existing. So any new customer will know exactly what they're entering into in terms of contract and payments.
Also, any existing customer in an LLU area, who moves house to a non LLU area, will still pay the same price, despite being on IPStream.
I think that the Admin of this site may have to change the wording of the banner notice that states 'For current customers too!'.... at least until Orange give notice that existing customers are going to have their prices increased (they have to give 30 days notice but they have not done so yet).
This is not to say they won't at some time soon, which is what the articles are insinuating.

orange are putting up prices for existing customers to £32.30 a month if you're not on a LLU exchange. however if you get a letter telling you this, check your exchange as if you are on a LLU enabled exchange you should NOT be charged any extra. i contacted the exec offices about this and was told i'd been sent the letter by mistake and they'd put a note on my file to say i should be charged the old rate of £24. however they also said that the billing department might well take the higher charge from my account in which case i should ring again to get the extra money back, and i'm not the only one on my exchange that's been told they'll have to pay more. this is a fraudulent charge and i wonder how many more people will find that they are paying the extra when they are on a LLU exchange.
Are customers being contacted about these outragous price increases?
I assume since it's a change in terms then even those who are mid contract can exit early?
As a result of this 28% increase I moved to o2 (now Sky). Orange were still trying to charge me saying that I had to give them 30 days notice. NOT TRUE. They have broken the terms of the agreement by increasing prices by more than the RPI (and therefore only 7 days notice is needed. They have agreed to refund my overpayment. Don't let them get away with it!! I attach a copy of the relevant terms and condtions:-
