Have recently tried to upgrade to 8 meg and speed has reduced massively, am on to Orange at moment and they are looking in to but wondered if anyone could shed some light on these stats??
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 30.3
Attenuation (dB) : 12.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 11360
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 1152 288
Have spoke to BT and they say line is fine and can support up to 8 meg, have tried turning off etc, and have been told that am not on LLU, however upgrade is being rejected when being put through.
Ethernet cable returning same results and router is plugged into main socket.
Speed test results at best download 1005kb/s upload 243kb/s ping 57 distance 150mi
Any help would be most appreciated

You're being capped at 1152 and you are on LLU (288 upstream denotes LLU).
From the noise margin and attenuation data I'd suggest there's a problem somewhere between the LLU eqpt and your router which is stable at 1152 but not at the 6000 to 7000 you are probably capable of seeing.
Thanks for the feedback, can't believe they've told me am not on LLU.
Where would you go from here?

If the cap is on because of problems between you and the LLU gear in your exchange then you need to badger Orange, tell them you know that it's an LLU problem and the connection is being capped because of it and demand an explanation.
Also others on here have found that asking for a MAC code immediately improves their connection.... strange or what ?
Nobody seems to know why this works, but other than this and making yourself a nuisance with the Indians.........you can always ask to be transferred to the UK desk.

Thanks for the help Borednow, amazing how much help a little insight into the process is when trying to get things done
. new figures are as of today an Unbelievable...
A 288 upstream is no guarantee of being on LLU as it's the same as the fixed speed connections used on IPStream and there are times when BT will switch a Max line to these.
