I have an Orange Livebox. I need more than two ethernet ports. I did add a d-Link wired router, plugged into the Livebox, and this worked fine - except for the fact that I effectively had two networks that couldn't see each other - one wired and one wireless.
So, I bought a refurb Netgear WPN824 which is a wired/wireless router, with the intention of using the Livebox purely as an adsl modem and VOIP gadget, and having all other devices connect through the Netgear router. Sounds simple? It never is...
The netgear router works well at connecting my devices, but I cannot access the internet. There's a netgear setup wizard that doesn't help. And a million variables to play with.
With the d-Link I just plugged it in and it worked. Not so with the Netgear.
Because it's a Netgear factory refurb, they will not offer phone support, so I'm deep in it.
Any help with setting this up would be mightily appreciated
I plugged my old dlink router back into the router and plugged the new netgear modem into that. All devices now discovered and internet access working fine.
