I'd be interested if anyone has seen this problem before.
When trying to access Orange Webmail using IE7 (on my home machine) at the login page I enter the email address and password correctly and the account appears to login (I can see the inbox url reference appearing in the browser status) - but the account then immediately logs out and goes to a login screen.
On the same machine I can access the account fine with Firefox with the same email address and password. I have cleared the IE7 caches / cookies, etc. and checked IE7 is up to date but it will still not allow access to the email account.
On another machine (at work) I can access at the webmail account using IE7.
At first I thought the the problem was an invalid login (wrong details) but am sure it is a successful login followed immediately by an involuntary logout. If I deliberately use the wrong password I get a different invalid password type message.
I'd be interested if anyone has and comments or had any similar experiences.
The problem has been evident for 3-4 weeks and is still evident.
But it is strange that I can log in on the same same machine using Firefox or on a different machine using IE7. Server problems would affect all I would have thought - unless it a really bizarre problem.
I had a similair problem with IE7, I'm using Vista Basic. I opened the Start menu, went to Accessories and System Tools. I then chose Interent Explorer without add-ons and the email login worked ok, without immediately logging out. I then tried my normal IE7 with all add-ons disabled, and went through them, enabling them one by one. The problem appeared to be caused my Flash Player, which I uninstalled and then reinstalled, Have had no problems since then.

You could always try resetting the browser security levels through internet options > security. Also try disabling any popup blockers to see if that makes any difference.
Thanks NewApollo and Elhana for your suggestions.
I've tried IE with "no add-ons" and it still has the same problem - also tried IE after resetting security settings and disabled poups and it's still the same - unfortunately.

Yes, I have a similar problem with another site - where IE just jumps out of the login stage. I think it's a glitch with java, but can't be sure. I tried Opera too, and that handled the script happily. IE is a pretty poor browser anyway, and the latest version of Firefox is so much more capable. My solution was just to dump IE completely..

I have just spent a couple of hours trying to sort this issue for a neighbour so I would very much like to know if a solution has been found. From quetioning the user, the problems seemed to start around the same time as a Java update. I have removed the Google toolbar that was installed by accident, tried without popup blocking (the email login seems to try and open a popup window), disabled all add-ons, cleared all IE7 files and restored default security. All to no avail. In desperation I installed Firefox which worked straight away. In summary, this is a new problem that would seem to be linked to a recent update related to IE7. I am looking for ideas as to what to try next. The underlying OS is XP.
It turned out that my friend's shortcut and default IE7 page took him to one of these defunct links. It is a pity that they still show a login screen which goes nowhere rather than a friendly message directing you elsewhere. That would have saved a lot of time.
I've been following this thread with interest as I have exactly the same problem after buying a new computer (still using Windows XP). It's back with a computer engineer at the shop I purchased it from and everyone agrees that there is an incompatibility issue between Orange software and IE7 which can only be resolved by Microsoft or Orange. Meanwhile, I have 2 choices to access my webmail from my new computer - Outlook or Firefox. I'm currently using an old computer on loan from the shop and it has no access problems using any of the urls that Orange Tech Support said were out of service. When has Orange Tech Support ever helped anyone! I would jump ship because of non-existent customer service, except that I have good broadband speed and good reliability of connection.
I'm from the Wanadoo days and I have no problem at all.
I know the Orange web site has been changed recently and it seems that only one email menu item appears to work. If you click on EMAIL & COMMUNICATE that works. If you click on COMMUNICATE > email (bottom left menu) then it doesn't.
Pi$$ poor programming again !!

My computer engineer thinks that it is a problem only Orange can address/fix. Here are his comments after wrestling with the problem for 2 weeks:
"Still having the same issues I’m afraid. It’s not so much a problem with internet explorer on its own, it’s the add ons that are different for every pc depending on what software is installed. As far as I can see Orange are yet to discover what the problem is at all – and when I called them they said they had no knowledge of the issue. I think using firefox for the sole purpose of emails would be the easiest answer until they can resolve the problem."
