Hi
Does using decent filters and the thing where you only leave wires 2 and 5 make a huge difference if you already have a stable line. I take 2 and 5 thing doesn't apply to the master socket?
Well I had a stable 4.5 MB Orange connection for a while, until I was LLU'd. I've kept quiet for a while as my downgrade to 2MB has been reasonably OK, but I want to get the most out of my line when I soon go to either Be or Idnet
These are my current line stats
Code:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2272 kbps 288 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.0 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 16.8 db 27.0 db
I think the 30 down is not a true reflection on the quality of the line as it used to be under 10. The increase to 30 was done in conjunction with LLU to give me a "stable" service
But was wondering if it would alter the SNR figures or the real download speeds I was getting. I operate "if aint broke don't try to fix it". I guess if I went to idnet or Be they would auto train my line, then I can do the sockets, but I'd rather do the work up front before I jump ship from here

Hi sweeperdog
If you decided to go with Be once your connected you will be on interleaved by default if your line is stable you can request to change your profile to fastpath and choose what SNR you want i think its 3db, 6, 9 etc which they do immediately, plus their is plenty on their members forum on tips how to get the best out of your connection, what routers work best with Be etc.

Cheers mate. A workmate does this for his gaming to keep his connection stable, then bumps his speed up for downloads. I think I will go with my DG834GT (which you use) - it's not let me down in ~4 years
