When I log on to webmail I get a security alert telling me that I am being redirected to a site that contains non-secure info, do I wish to continue. I have never had this before. Anyone else noticed this? Has something changed that might be causing it? I should add that, when i login on an older pc, I get a message that there is a problem with the sites security certificate. Does this pose a risk, or is it ok to click through and still use it. Are Orange aware and, if not, how do we make them aware that they have a problem. Previous experience suggests that they are impossible to communicate with. I have not experienced this problem with any other web site, only my webmail.
I have investigated this further, and the message I get is that the name on the certificate does not match the name of the site. Can anyone help with this, or has anyone else got this problem?
Seems to be firefox related problems on the usual log in from home page. Neither my works pc or home pc can log in via firefox yet can from IE7. One uses adblock and the other adblockplus. I tried turning adblock off but it seems to be just firefox itself that it doesn't like
I contacted the Orange technical help and they responded as follows: "we have escalated the matter to the concerned department. Hence we will receive an update within 5 working days. However we suggest you to use Outlook Express or access your mails through www.mail2web.com ".
Edit by Admin Note that mail2web is an external online website that retrieves your emails - in order to retrieve your emails, you need to supply your username and password - this is a potential security issue - we advise that you contact Orange and confirm that this is an Orange recommended way of retrieving your emails.
It sort of works. I guess it means they don't know the answer at the moment. I tried the suggestion from LLUed above, but the same thing happens. It is not that i cannot access webmail, it is just that I get this security alert every time I try to sign in.
ADMIN,
It was Orange who told me to use mail2web in response to my enquiry with their technical people. Having spoken to a technical "expert", I have now been told that they do not generally recommend this, but it is a work around solution. It seems they are indeed suggesting something which is a security risk, and that is really bad form. Depending on who I speak to at Orange, I get a different answer. They should be at least all singing from the same hymn sheet. This is very worrying.

Hi pooliecliff
Worrying indeed!
I was not questioning your motives/integrity in showing the link, just adding a warning that should be issued to users before they use this type of service.
It seemed strange that "Orange" would officially recommend this service. Perhaps this was a member of staff trying to help a customer in a difficult situation.
A miracle has happened. My webmail problem has mysteriously gone away and all is well once again. I have still had no contact from Orange despite them promising that they would contact me. I contacted them to chase up my query and they apologised for the delay and promised someone would ring me back within the hour. Nothing. Maybe I should be just grateful that my original problem has been resolved.
