I can't get any sense out of Orange when I explain my problem all they seem to want me to do is keep loading Speedtouch. My problem is this, when I turn my computer on my ADSL light keeps flashing, so to get online I have to dial 1471 [or any number] wait for it to connect and then hang up the phone. hay presto I am on line but only for about 2 hours and then it drops off again until I redial 1471. Should I go back to Orange for the umpteenth time or go to BT?
TRYIN SWAPPING AROUND FILTERS, OR TRY TAKING OUT PHONE THEN TRYING BROADBAND OR VICE VERSA IT COULD BE PROBS ON BOTH PARTS BUT TRY THIS AND TELL ME YOUR OUTCOME
:?Thak you elhana and missyx87. BT have put in one of their own filters and I come directly off that via a screened modem cable directly to my modem/computer. I only have one phone extension which the BT engineer told me to take off the filter as it was not needed now that he had put in the BT filter. In the meantime I am getting on line by dialing 1471, it is not very satisfactory but at least I am getting on line!
Ahh one of those filters, if you disconnect everything but the modem from the line and see if the same thing happens, if so then its probably some sort of fault and Orange will need to test the line.

:lol:Thank you, the problem seems to have been resolved.
1. BT engineer suggested that they reduce my speed from 1.1 to 576 saying that my pair [cable] was too far away from the exchange to sustain the speed 1.1
2. They reduced my speed but I was still having the same problem
3. Today the 8th of Aug BT put me in a new cable and heh presto I get straight on line. The speed reduction seems to have had little affect.
So after a month of nonsense from Orange and ten days and 4 engineers later from BT, I hope I can say "problem solved" and guess what my first words where to the Orange and BT operators when I first reported the fault, they were " I think I have something wrong with my line"!!!!
