I have been with this ISP since they were freeserve and to be honest have had little complaint in that time.
I have the up to 8mb unlimited which gave me speeds of around 1.5mb that all changed a couple of days ago I am now lucky if I get 512.
I logged into my account on their site and that says up to 1mb which isnt what it was but thats immaterials as I dont get that anyway:twisted:
I can get no explanation for this from anyone, I have mailed but had no response, I have been on the tech support line which is a waste of space as there is so much background noise I cant hear what they say and even when I can hear its hard to understand half of them or they cant understand me. Even if I speak to someone and we understand each other I get fobbed off with the same rubbish they have on their site for speeding up connection and I have already done all of that.
Does anyone have any ideas as 400kb feels a bit like dial up after haveing 1,5mb fo months and downloads just take forever. Im paying for 8mb and not even getting 512 its ridiculous, I realise my distant location from the exchange limits me but as I said for months I have has no trouble with 1.5mb....

I exceeded my unlimited Download limit 2 months in a row so they cut my speed without telling me. On top of which neither customer services or tech support knew that until I told them and they bothered to look so I wasted 2 days on the phone and on the pc trying to resolve it.
Orange customer service is a complete joke
Orange statement of unlimited BB that is limited is a mickey take and makes no sense
They now expect me to live with these crappy speeds wnilst paying for up to 8mb for at least 3 months, what planet are they on
They want £106 to end the contract which I dont want to pay as as far as I am concerned they are at fault not me
What I need now is a long list of people to complain to because Im not letting this go, I use my connection for gaming and as it stands my pings are too high, its not acceptable. My speed is only supposed to be cut peak times ie 6pm to 12am but it has been cut 24hrs a day though they seem to deny that and no amount of me telling the idiots its alll the time gets them to beleive it, in general I just dont think they care.
The fact that there is an independant website like this speaks volumes about Oranges inability to run a decent service
Any ideas on who I can complain to would be appreciated, I cant seem to get to anyone of authority in Orange though thats for sure
I had for 1st 3 months a perfect connection (5.5Mbs) now I too habe been capped at 500k between 6pm and midnight - problem is also capped midnight till 6pm although Orange say this is not the case (lying *!*!s). I have had enough ! Ordering my MAC and telling them to stuff their 18 month (15 left) contract - due to their breech ! Cancel direct debit and leave.
I must have been mad to get involved with these muppets in the first place - cost me a fortune in calls to "customer services" + "technical support" and i ended up with no support and no service !
What this compsny needs is a mass exodus - i cant believe the ammount of people on these posts who are "eagerly waiting" for the end of their contracts - RUN PEOPLE ! RUN NOW ! its only getting worse.
They cannot / will not provide the service which we pay for - so let them go to the dogs ! But take the time to ensure that you tell everybody you possible can about how bad they are - fill in the review pages on other sites to ensure their potential new customers know IN ADVANCE what to expect from what is undoubtably the worst ISP on the planet !
Let me know how that goes. They are telling me I have to pay the remainder of the contract £106 to get out of it

As to the speed cap, mine is the same 24hrs a day and tech support as good as tell you that you are lying if you say different. The speedtests I have done a different times of the day are so stable and similar there is no way its down to anything but there cap
Ordered my MAC last night - got an email today saying request has been passed on to relevent department, and i should get response within 5 days. I'll believe it when i see it !

I have requested my MAC code too now, talking to them is a waste of time they just refuse to listen
I shall abide by FUP and keep downloader switched off between 6 + 12 (keeping a record of course as evidence if it turns sour again) - no appologies or goodwill gestures . . .but hey i've got my connection back - lots of people out there apparently still struggling -
Maybe demanding MAC - pointing out you believe them to be in breach of contract (the important bit) does at least get what you are paying for, or maybe it was just a fluke - but try it for yourselves - don't let them get away with it !
Still not too sure whether to use the code ?! As i see it there are Three options availiable;
1. Accept limit 6 till 12 - which never really bothered me that much- 24hrs and all the crap from Customer services really P'd me off, but could live with status quo as long as there is no more hastle
2. Use MAC code to switch and inform Orange of their breach of contract (see you in court if you want your money !) can't see them trying really ! Get cheeper and better contract (afetr checking FUP of course) - tiscalli is looking promising - states FUP only applies during peak - there are a few others with "limits" eg 300GB off peak and 30GB peak (£16 month) - i would never get close to that !
3. Set bittorrent to download 24/7 with as much crap as you can get your hands on - untill they terminate your contract - problem solved !
even on 24hr limit of 500kb/s you can still pull in 5Gb a day (if my sums are right
