I'm trying to get a MAC code out of these people but finding it increasingly difficult and frustrating like many others ive been with them since Freeserve now i just want rid of them but can i escape no lol any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks .
This MAC is the Migrations Authority Code which enables the transfer of ADSL service from one ISP to another. Only your current ISP, I think, can issue it. Without the MAC code you have to "cease" the current ISP and the "reprovide" with the new one. I suspect I will be trying one or the other very soon......
We have this problem too. We've been with Orange since they were Freeserve, but had no choice but cancel our account after they failed to move our broadband service when we moved house. We phoned them endlessly, they kept saying they were changing it for weeks, but they never did!
So we cancelled the account, spent a few days pondering who else to go with and decided on BT. We phoned BT, who told us we needed to get this MAC code from Orange... Oh dear...
Of course we phoned Orange and were told it would take 2 weeks before we could be given the code!! This is apparently because we had already cancelled the account...

Hi there during this problem i had with Orange the last call i made to ask where the MAC code was CS said it will take another 10 days so what i did was i went to the ISPA site and filled in a complaint form which they sent on to Orange within an hour i got an email off Orange to say they have logged my complaint and will deal with it then an hour after that my MAC was in my inbox , amazing how 10 days can fly LOL
God Luck with yours if no joy go to
