Please can you proffer some advice. Since the fiascos of the summer, my Broadband has actually been quite reasonable, often with speeds of in excess of 6Mb. I have just received the dreaded e-mail that says that they are "making some changes that could mean we may be able to speed up your Orange broadband package."
Would I be right in thinking that this is the dreaded LLU changes, and if so what are people's general experiences now. Are the problems of only getting 2Mb with LLU been overcome now?
Luckily, I have served my minimum time, and if they start messing around, they won't see me for dust. (As an aside, who should I be looking to move to?)
Is there anything I should be doing in advance of the move, apart from saving my list of speed test results on ThinkBroadband? (Sorry, this predates the facility here)
Yes saving your speedtest results is a good idea. In fact I'd open a word document now and start on audit trail and include any references to calls to India that you may be make etc
Doing it on both speedtest and thinkbroadband because
a) I really struggled to get speedtest to load post LLU with speeds of 100kbps - although if you do get a success, it is useful to record your speeds here graphically, although it is sickening when you see the graph go down
b) When you get c**p speeds Orange will direct you to kb165 and ask you to do 3 tests on thinkbroadband
Personally if you are out of contract and your speed dives then I'd ask for your MAC code. People usually find their speed goes back up again, but usually are in contract. You're in a win-win situation
Just to give you a bit of hope, our exchange was LLU'd a few months back, for the first two days we were getting speeds of 1.9 but since then we have received a constant 4.4 and had no problems,.

Many thanks John - fingers crossed I get something similar. At least there appears to be hope!
It's accepted accross the industry that LLU connections in general have more faults but it's not all doom and gloom. Just see how it goes, and remember if you do get a speed drop give it a few days to see if it goes back up, sometimes the migration prevents the full speed going through immediately.
since this so called line upgrade my upload has gone i used to get 388 upload now onloy getting 288 can anyone explain please?
Welcome to the wonderful world of LLU where "upgrade" has a whole new meaning !!!........I'm just glad Orange don't have an airline and hotel business.
yeah but that still doesnt explain why the upload has gone down so much, i been using Orange for a year and half with no problms whatsoever untill this SO CALLED upgrade.
i play online game alot and loved the fact the my upload of 440kbs was enough to cater for 8 players with a really stable game now with the 288kbs all i can host is 4.
I've also recently received the dreaded 'upgrade' e-mail...
I went from 4500kbps pre-LLU to 900 after...
My IP profile is now 1000k so I know I'm on a fixd speed line. Orange deny this and say in on ADSL Max, but suggest I upgrade to a higher speed package!!
