I'm soon to re-house my computer in the 'garden shed', but I need to be able to use my laptop in the house.
Does anyone know of a wireless extender that works with the Livebox? I recently bought a Hawking extender but I'm finding it impossible to setup as it can't find my network. After many Google searches I find that I am not alone with this, but surely there must be away to boost the signal from the Livebox??
You'd probably be better off using a homeplug wireless kit, you connect your livebox to it, then into the power, at the other end it comes from the power and is a wireless access point. That way you can easily move it to anywhere your home wiring goes.
Thanks Elhana,
I gave up on the Hawking and sent it back. I have been looking at these homeplug kits and read some very good reviews. I'm going to give them a try.

Elhana, what exactly IS a homeplug wireless kit and where do I find this? Can you please suggest a name brand (if that's permitted) or at least tell me a bit more about this product and how it works?
I'm sad to say the Livebox signal is EXTREMELY weak so yesterday went back to Curry's. I had purchased my laptop there when Orange was offering £300 for signing up. They suggested purchasing a Wireless Universal Range Extender (they suggested Belkin F5D7132) but thought I should do a bit of research before purchasing.
I done a bit of looking around and am seeing a lot of bad reviews on that product. I run 2 laptops in different parts of my house and neither really gets much of a signal. I desparately need to find something that boosts the signal and more importantly WORKS with Livebox!
Can you please help and give me a bit more background/advise and perhaps point me in the right direction? I'd be ever so grateful!
Just make sure you've tried changing the livebox channel first as that can help get around signal problems.
The homeplug wireless is such as...

I've never used them myself but the idea is pretty simple. They supplement a router to provide extra coverage with a seperate wireless network. The ones there should be a good starting point on the topic.

Elhana,
Thank you for such a prompt reply! How do I go about changing the Livebox channel, as suggested. Also, will this have any effect in using the second line? (which, with family in the States, is something I do not want to lose!)
Channel is just for the wireless, shouldn't effect the second line at all.
Channel changing - recommended to be done through ethernet to avoid potentially worse wireless channels where you can't connect at all.
Open internet explorer and browse to 192.168.1.1
Click the link username and password are "admin"
Go into Security > Wireless Connection
Change the drop down to a different number and submit
Wait a minute and try and see if wireless is running any better, reconnect if needed.
It may take several tries and you could find worse channels. Generally don't go in order, jump several at a time and see if it makes a difference. Unlike what some people say there really is no "best" channel, it varys depending on the conditions for where you are.
