Hello beviii
Welcome to OrangeProblems.co.uk
Firstly... There are issues with Orange emails at the moment. Orange are aware of these issues (apparently) and should be working to fix them. - How long is "lately" not been receiving emails - days, weeks, months???
Secondly. Using an internet service provider's (ISP) free email for important things such as bank contacts, ebay contacts and paypal contacts etc. is a tad risky. Most ISPs will remove your priveleges when you change to a new ISP thus leaving you with the tedious job of changing email addresses everywhere. Although Orange say that they will keep email accounts open so long as you log in to the webmail system every "so many" days, they have, recently tried closing lots of email accounts of ex-customers (without telling them in advance). This of course causes major problems for those with the email addresses. You are better using a service such as Hotmail or Yahoo - these moreorless guarantee your email address for a life-time (again, so long as you use it regularly - which means logging in and checking emails).
A far better way of doing things, although there is a cost involved, is to buy a domain name, such as www.my-domain-name.co.uk and have it hosted with a hosting company for an annual fee (usually no more than about £35.00 per year - there are cheaper alternatives). This way, you own the domain name and thus the email address and you can move it to which ever hosting company whenever you like. You are in full control. All you have to do is remember to renew the domain name every 1 or 2 years - although your hosting company may do this for you automatically (via direct debit or credit card etc).
PS. The link "hosting company" is for 123-reg.co.uk who will host your emails from as little as 83pence per month - plus the cost of the domain name (.co.uk domain names are £2.79 per year +VAT)
how do i get another email address like hotmail etc, and where would the emails i receive go to so i could view and reply (likemy normal email account) . would i have to have another home page,
I had this problem for a few weeks and couldn't work out what was going on. I've since fixed it. I went to the Orange website and logged into my email. The applet in the top left hand corner showed me as having a full mailbox (my mailbox was empty as was my deleted box) and as such I had used my 100Mb limit. It turns out that I had over 22000 spam emails that were being held in the junk mail folder (this folder isnt displayed in Outlook Express). This was taking up the entire 100mb limit. Once I had deleted the lot (click the "100% of 100Mb" link and then click delete contents on the resultant screen) - beware it takes ages and ages, zzzzzz's - Emails started coming in for the first time in weeks!
I think that the script or whatever it is that deletes spam email after 7 days has stopped working and it is this that are blocking our email accounts.
