I CAN get onto Google, BBC, Etc , plus load of others but for example Yell, and http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/ for example won't come up...
Yes, I've had this problem since yesterday. I can't access the websites you listed either, and lots of others. I am trying to buy a new computer and annoyingly can't access:
I am glad it wasn't just me. I thought I was going mad. i first noticed when trying to access romancart.com. A lot of people using romancart for their online shop will be losing money.
I called the helpdesk and they denied it, it must be my pc etc...
I had this problem all of yesterday but it seems to be fixed as of this morning. I have also tried romancart this morning and that seems OK.
Hi jd, looks like they are fixing the problem one locality at a time. I'm still having problems with all my own sites at Heart Internet, www.BT.com and I've just tried romancart.com and that doesn't work either.
Lots of sites won't load for me including many that you've listed.. Uknova.com is another I've found won't work.. Everything was fine until yesterday when my router reset and now this, nice one Orange!
I've been putting up with Orange as I've had the last 9 months free as compensation for the hassles I've had.. They also gave me £20 for calls I'd made to the call centers.. Not bad considering I used their free IP phone to call them.. Now that they're going to start charging me and they're getting issues I think I'll take the MAC code they promised me if I wasn't happy and head elsewhere.. Maybe BT, maybe adsl24, anywhere but Orange..
Lets hope the rest of the internet comes back sometime..
On thu 24 jan in the evening, the Orange broadnand system suddenly started to refuse to connect to certain websites, eg secondlife.com and certain university sites including my own... I could still connect to BBC.co.uk, hotmail, google and other university sites, etc.
On friday I rang technical support and I spoke to a woman in india who said that they were getting many calls with the same problem, and also people's intenet phones weren't working now. The problems had started on thursday. It was a known system problem that they were trying to sort out and is to do with the DNS servers.

Orange's own email server! (through their homepage)
Simply dire. We might be one more Orange family finding a better broadband provider!
We have Mesh Computers listed on OrangeProblems.co.uk - if you are looking for computers / laptops, see if you can use the links that we have on the shopping pages (they may direct to other Mesh servers):

Ive been having exactly the same problem as is mentioned for 3 days now.
As a short term (hopefully until Orange sort the problem) solution Ive found that changing/switching to OpenDNS resolves the issues and allows me to access all the sites.
To swicth you need to (Win XP PRO - May be different on other OS's)
Start>Control Panel>Network Connections
Right click on Local area connection and click properties
On Internet Protocol click properties and at the bottom of the next window you need to check the Use the following DNS server addresses and change the addresses to
Preferred DNS Server : 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS Server : 208.67.220.220
You may need to insert the 67 as 067 but it doesnt make a difference.
Tried this for my wireless laptop, on both the (unpluged) LAN connection and the wireless one. No effect (assuming I don't need to restart the whole machine for it to take affect, just the disable - wait - enable the connection)
having same problem, is driving me mad. Anyone have any idea how long it will take them to fix this? They told me 24/48 hours but not feeling too confident about that. Tried that thing you suggested josb, no luck for me x
