<Livebox Issues? ~ Keep being disconnected but flatmates are fine

Hello everyone I’m new and feel bad that I only signed up to request help for this irritating problem but I’m Cuth and pleased to meet you all.
We have a Orange livebox in our flat, I am using a Desktop pc running XP, one person is using a laptop with inbuilt wi fi using VISTA and the other is using a macbook running tiger with inbuilt wi fi.
Since November there has been no problems whatsoever until last Sunday the 13th. I have been regularly been disconnected and then when I select the livebox windows will not connect. I tried using my usb wi fi adapter program (BT Voyager 1055) and the windows zero configuration but no luck. I had to restart my computer to get it connected again. Someone told me that the usb wi fi adapter was broken and recommended getting a PCI wireless card. I did this but the problem still remains. I am connected for anything between an 10 minutes and 7 hours (7 hours being the longest) and when I’m disconnected need to restart the pc which allows me to connect as soon as it’s rebooted.
My download speed is also messed up, sometimes it goes the usual 200-300kbs which is rare and usually downloads things at 20kbs.
My flat mates MAC and laptop are both 100% perfect and have encountered no problems except the occasional time when the internet suddenly becomes local only access for 3 hours and will not let them connect either.
I had a wireless phone beside the livebox so I thought that was the problem. I removed that, no joy. I deleted my last 2 XP updates in case that was the problem. I have changed the channel on the livebox and still nothing. I even set up a static IP but that doesn’t work either.
The livebox is separated by one wall as our flat is ground floor with 5 rooms, the livebox being situated in the hall about 6 metres from my computer.
When it disconnects the computer, both the program i use to run the PCI card and windows say that i am connected and i have a signal (its usually low at this point, about 20%) but no web pages load up and programs such as MSN messenger disconnect and will not reconnect. If i try repairing the connection it discconects fully and will not reconnect.
Also before this problem occured i used to have signals of 90-100%
It is very frustrating and I have no idea what the problem is. Can someone please help?
